I think there is a chance Kane will be sold this summer if he really wants out. Man C are financially insulated so can still afford to pay a world record fee for him (e.g. £150M+). Levy will know that his stock will never be higher than it is now (with 3 years left) and if Paratici can be clever and spend that money on 5 or 6 players without anyone getting wind of our new found wealth, we could get players who will potentially be world class at value prices.

For example, for £150M we could potentially sign:

Kounde
Lacroix / Milenković
Damsgaard / Aouar
Vlahović / Ings

We'd still need to offload another 6 or 7 players to trim the squad (Dier, Sanchez, Aurier, Alderweireld, Sissoko, Winks, Lamela) giving us more funds to improve any other areas of weaknesses.

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather Kane stayed at least another year, I just think that Levy will look at history and know that clubs are usually best off selling players who want out at their peak and moving on quickly.
Have to admit as much as I love Kane those signings would give us a seriously tasty squad to bring us back into top 4. Better yet if Kane played with those players we would be challenging for the title. Such a shame we can’t do both.

If we could sell players like:

Aurier £10M
Sissoko £10M
Lamela £10M
Dier £20M
Sanchez £25M
Moura £25M
Winks £20M
Toby £10M
CCV £5M
(Foyth already gone for £15M)
(We also have Rose and Bale off the payroll)

... That's £150M and we could keep Kane with the players I identified. Vlahovic could be Kane's back up this season and his long term successor.

The euros will seem little compared to the Europa conference league trophy we’ll be lifting at the end of the season
If he does lift the trophy this evening, the whole world will think it very odd that he will play in an eastern european competition next season, along with postmen and milkmen.
I think it brilliant myself - it smells of the death of capitalism.

Why even put a figure on him? It should just be matter of "he's not for sale" and that should be the end of it. You never heard Barca talk about how much Messi would cost. If Kane runs down the contract so be it, he's priceless to us. If we keep him until 31 that's him well paid off over his time here. He cost us nothing to get him here. That will be the age Sheringham left and we'll have had his best years. Keep him to his contract.

If stadiums re-open, as planned, more than he is now.

There are two types of valuation in this world:

a) what people are willing to pay
b) what the seller is willing to accept

I guess the real question is, what is two seasons of Harry Kane worth to a club? Our CL final run brought in nearly £100m itself, so it's not hard to see why it wouldn't be worth us selling voluntarily.

The only valuation is what people are prepared to pay!

I hate articles like this, and the state of 'internet journalism'

I think the author considers himself a 'funny guy', but it comes across amateurish. This bit really irritates, though:

"In the interests of full disclosure, for years I never thought Kane was a top-rank footballer. I remember seeing him huff and puff his way around the pitch in 2013/14 as Spurs gave him 19 games in the first team that season, during which time he scored just four times. He looked a bit useless and it was hard to know what role suited him. He was too slow, sometimes to the point of lumbering, to play on the shoulder, but didn’t seem to know how to play a lone striker and didn’t have the ball game to be a No. 10. I fully expected him to drop down the leagues and be playing for Southend by now."

Did you really John? Really? This bit...

...Seems to be based on the same Wikipedia bullshittery that plagues transfer thread, where experts go from 'who?' to 'xG' in 20 mins of browsing. Here's his stats from that season:

So, PL2 aside (where he had 8 goals and 5 assists in 8 games), he actually had 5 goal contributions in 10 'senior' PL games. Or, alternatively, a smidge under a goal contribution every 90 mins.

Also:

The Queen even took sympathy on Harry and in 2019 gave him an OBE to play with, which he no doubt looks at wistfully in the silence of a long night.

It was an MBE, you tit.

I don't know why people work in supermarkets pushing trolleys when they could easily become football journalists. The bar is so low it's embarrassing.

Didn't get the right service tonight. You bring Grealish on at 60 mins (which was fucking obvious) and that's a different game

Had a good knock out stage of the tournament though IMO

Get ready for the endless media shit about him needing to win something though...

He was doing well for the first half, but once we decided to not attack Italy he was out of the game. We were so far back into our own half after the first 45 that we were never getting up the field.

Easy to see why he'd feel that way though isn't it? As a Spurs and England fan it certainly feels like we're destined to win nothing - whereas he knows he's more or less guaranteed trophies elsewhere (shame he can't transfer his nationality though).

The main reason I wanted England to win it was that it might remove the big no trophy chip on Harry's shoulder.

I'd say he's more likely to want to leave now for some easy trophies. I hope I'm wrong and I hope Daniel rejects any offers, but damit, Harry leading England to a trophy would have been huge for him.
