Words are beginning to fail me with this footballer. What a player we have

84 goals in 120 league games. This is a 70% goal ratio which is now better than Greaves league ratio of 69%

Overall 110 goals in 174 games which now equals Glenn Hoddle. It took the king of WHL 490 games to reach that total

Jinking Jimmy Dimmock next on the Tottenham all time goalscoring record with 112 goals.....
Thanks for posting this, as you've saved me a job. It should be pointed out that Hoddle's scoring rate of one every four and a bit games is by no means untidy for a player whose main job was to create goals rather than score them himself. He's still the best Spurs player and the best English player I've seen. Actually, make that the best player from anywhere in these islands I've seen. As for Kane, he might just overtake Robbie Keane and Teddy Sheringham before we see in 2018, as long as he has a reasonable run of form and stays healthy.

Could never understand that point of view personally. I don't see how anyone can "stop" supporting their club.

I think its because to me Harry Kane represents everything about the reason why I support a club and follow football. Hometown boy, come through the ranks and becoming one of the best players in the world, driving himself and his club onto success and inspiring a generation of kids.

In my mind there are only 1 reason Kane leaves us and thats him or us being offered stupid money. If he asks to leave or we choose to sell I just don't see the point in following Spurs/anyone anymore as the game would be unrecognizable from when I fell it love with it/spurs!

Like I said I don't think it will happen anyway.

Defoe's European record is also up for beating, he is only 6 away from equaling the 23 which had stood for a long time with Chivers. Unfortunately a few rubbish UEFA games where he was a raw youngster in a young side has probably not helped his ratio. If only he'd scored that pen against Hearts :)

I think this thread will need to be closed soon as there not much else you can say about Kane.

I think the appeal of supporting Spurs and football in general would be impacted, in the same was as it was when Bale left, you loose sight of the enjoyable and the connection with the players who make up the team. When we signed all those players there was nothing that identified them as 'Spurs', it has taken a few seasons to recover that.

I think you are right, in that it would take stupid money and Spurs being so far away from achieving anything or offering similar. The UK clubs would struggle to prise him away on identification as a Spurs player I think but you potentially couldnt blame him for wanting to try to play at a big European side as he gets to his late 20's. Here's hoping he is part of a side, and the man that can score the goals that secures us a few bits of silverware.

A friend of mine stopped supporting Liverpool after the whole Dalgleish/Suarez/tee shirt fiasco. That was the breaking point for him, but more generally he hated the way top flight football had gone and the ridiculous money involved.

After that he started going to Bristol City games as he prefers that level of football, and now supports them. Ironically they might have a good chance of getting promoted to the Premier League this season!

From Beeb:

"Harry Kane is having no such problems. He took his total to 13 goals in eight matches in September as Spurs thrashed Huddersfield 4-0, making it the most prolific month of the England striker's career. That tally matches the best efforts of Barcelona's Lionel Messi (13 in March 2012) and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo (13 in October 2010)."

He's alright.

I genuinely think he will commit to us as long as we continue to progress both on and off the pitch, he's said that himself. However if he turns 28 - 29 and still hasn't won some major silverware I'd actually want him to move on and get some.

His second goal was superb yesterday, took out two defenders with the drop of the shoulder and didn't let Jorgensen the third defender get close to him. Wasn't as bad defending as they made out but the two defenders were completely taken out by the dummy.

Leeds fans spotted a Harry Kane lookalike serving behind a bar before their match with Sheffield Wednesday today.

So in true Leeds fans style, they started singing rude songs about him.

It's worth keeping open just so we can go back and re-read the first few pages. It really is incredible to think that in such a relatively a short space of time, we've gone from comparing Kane's record with Lee Barnard, Neale Fenn and Rory Allen to measuring his stats alongside Jimmy Greaves and Cristiano Ronaldo. One of the things I find so pleasing is that he wasn't ever hailed as the 'next big thing' until he became, unquestionably the 'current big thing'. I was among those (pre my SC days) who hoped he might become a half decent player. But I'm not sure any of us in our wildest dreams foresaw the player we have now...
