Campbell is a grade a prick, I despise him now as much as I ever did.

He wasn't right . He lied, led us along and went to the one place he knew was a huge huge no-no and then has tried the innocent act ever since.

He is a good example of my issue with spurs to this day.

It's always the fans that lose out, every single time. 20 years we have had this lot, pissing around with some success in the second decade but let's have it right, nobody knew Bale was going to turn into that player. He was a left back when we signed him and on the verge of being sold to forest when Redknapp finally gave him a chance. His rise wasn't a genius move it was a young left back we signed that exploded , an amazing story. And Kane himself was a good striker, nobody expected this but how often does a Harry Kane or. Gareth Bale come along? To get a Harry from your youth system isn't a regular thing.

So after years of watching the scum and the chavs win and win, we got a few years of success , except we won't sweet FA and then have just stopped as the chavs do what they do and now the scum are back, oh joy, I'm going to love them lording it over us again because it didn't happen for most of my life. Oh and the one manager who brought joy is now at bloody Chelsea (RAT!).

Harry would be absolutely mad to stay. Even I as a sad obsessed middle aged fan who grew up five minutes from the stadium and could hear the crowd from my bedroom window as a kid, even I would leave. I wouldn't want to work for Daniel Levy. In fact if I was a young player and spurs wanted me I wouldn't go because if I was a success and a Madrid or another side who actually win things come along , Levy whilst refusing to compete wouldn't let me go until I see out a long contract probably losing my time years competing for fourth.

And it's the fans that suffer. He charges the most in the world for everything, he has covered our shirt on red, demolished our home for a soulless entertainment venue, all in the aid of competing which so many sensible Tottenham fans rightly understand, except we never do compete.

Everything about us is pretending to be a big club, but we're not. Were a brand that has figured out how to maximize the amount of cash we can fleece whilst spending as little as possible on the actual football team.

I'm sorry for the rant, the thought of Judas set me off but I sit here and think about how our greatest ever player wants to go to a Mickey mouse league and a club he doesn't care about because he really has no choice if he wants to win anything. It's so sad and such a waste.

Honestly take our emotion and you can't offer one reason why he should stay. Were just lucky he doesn't wanna run down his contract and join that rat at the chavs.

Love this post.

Its not that he went there it's how he did it, deliberately screwed club, deceit personified.
The fact that you have started talking about him in the Harry Kane discussion like there's any comparison is out of fucking order.
And going on strike to try to force a move isn’t as bad or disrespectful to club and fans?

I wonder if we'll see a continuation of people saying the same thing, basically, variations on 'this needs sorting out quickly' or 'we can't let this drag on'. I mean, it's pretty much all we've had for a few days now and it must easily run to 20 pages a day, just of that, never mind the rest.

Although I must admit, each time some wise sage repeats it, i'm sure someone else says "fuck me, that's the fifth time he's said that, I wasn't sure to begin with but that fifth time has convinced me......I think i'll agree now" :playful:

This is tongue firmly in cheek here but, with the benefit of hindsight, he probably talked with Enic, identified their lack of ambition and then decided not to sign the contract. Sol was ahead of us all in working out our owners….still a knobber though.
The only time he was willing to sign a contract was under sugar, If he was offered parity with Ginola. Sugar wouldn't offer him this.

I know this, because I met his ghost writer in the North stand around 2015/16.

As for anyone who thinks he made the right decision, he had all the big Clubs want him, he could have won a lot more at Utd, and not gotten the response.

Sol. In here. And not the odd post either, so before it takes on a whole huge life of it's own, let's not. Please let's not.

EDIT: If you must, respond via the ratings ;)

Speaking of murals, do we now paint over the one we've just painted of him?
He was there with his entire family, sticking their handprints on it while scheming of heading to bloody Germany.

Lesson...wait til a player has retired before painting a bloody great mural in their honour.

I mean, I know hes been a great servant and all that but if he does bugger off now, a couple of months after it was painted, it's rubbing salt into the wounds of the fans who will walk past it every matchday.
I imagine it will stay for a while until it gets graffitied. Then it will be quietly painted over.

This thread, and the Kane situation in general, has become a lightning rod for all the club’s issues under ENIC. It’s a pity because a couple of weeks ago there was a feel good factor going into the preseason with Ange. Now it feels like there is a huge cloud hanging over the club again and the fanbase is divided. It’s a real shame that instead of looking forward to the new season all the focus on this. I hope it’s not affecting the team preparations but I don’t see how it could not affect them.

I honestly do not know what Kane is thinking if he wants to join Bayern. He is 47 goals off of Alan
Shearer's PL record and he wants to join a team in a 1 horse race for the League. The Bundesliga is a step down from the PL which is undoubtedly the best in the world. Bayern have also only won the CL once in 10 years and are certainly not better than Man C or Real Madrid. I personally would rather have the PL top scorer title than a couple of Bundesliga titles. He should beat Shearer's record within 2 years if he stays, so I don't know why he wouldn't sign a new contact at Spurs with a 2 year break clause.

The media is so up for the move ,I think he might be worried that if he stays he will be labeled by them as an unambitious little Englander

I guess that winning trophies and breaking Shearer’s record are both on his wish list. I also assumed that the record would carry more weight but there is no absolute reason it should. In fact the opposite may be true, given that the medals would be real and Shearer’s record is, well, not.

Exactly this, feels like everything is on hold until this gets sorted.

I suspect our squad is going to look a hell of a lot different, when the window closes.

Only trouble is, what happens on the pitch before then.

I agree with all you say, except the bit about the fanbase being divided. Surely, anyone with any awareness can't STILL be supporting Levy?

I’m sure Kane isn’t at all bothered by what the media or pundits have to say about him. And I don’t think this is a money driven thing either. So if it’s all about winning something, Bayern is a pretty sure bet. Even if he stayed and got a PL move next summer, there are no safe bets here.

Probably far more pressing matters to attend to given how he’s now just back in the UK for the first time post his ownership partner getting indicted for inside trading in the US. And then there’s the small matter of the attempted transfer of Davinson Sanchez to Russia skirting the sanctions. The Kane saga distraction might have to take a back seat to these latest 2 Spurs disasters.
Heaven forbid he gave thought to signing some CBs that would be too mundane.
