Mbappe: young, quick, looks good on FIFA, yet has barely scored 20 professional goals = better than the most consistent striker in the world's best domestic league for the past three years?

All the player of the year votes come down to performance in the CL. And last year we didn't perform, and Monaco and Mbappe did. That's the long and short of it. Kane will shoot up the voting if we go deep this year.

Then how the hell is lukaku there?

As I've said previously it's a popularity contest, the same method that FIFA ratings are decided

I think you should vote for who you think is best, in the order your think they're best.
If Kane was easily the best player in the world but lost out due to players and coaches all picking their mates we'd all be livid.

Move on.

Its a bit blatant how so many players are voting for their team mates and neither Messi or Ronaldo had the grace to vote for the other.

Also, anyone feel Southgate could maybe have voted for Kane? Or am I just being picky?

Slightly off topic, but just thought I'd point out that the first hundred or so pages of this thread make for quite illuminating reading!

When you've finished, the beginning of the Poch thread is a hoot.

Ooh, that sounds like fun.

Link? I can only see the one that goes back a year - presumably an older one containing all kinds of abuse, ill thought out arguments and downright idiocy?

Try http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/ind...l-about-the-appointment-of-pochettino.109439/ for starters.

*May have chosen that particular thread as my vote and reply on page 1 paints me in a particularly prescient light...

To be honest, I'm surprised by how measured a lot of the comments are on that thread. Even the "negative" ones are still along the lines of "I'm underwhelmed, but I'll reserve judgment". Surely the SC way is to wade in with completely baseless criticism and pessimism from the start?

And your first comment may be prescient, but maybe not so much your second...

[A more interesting poll would be "do you think Pochettino will be in charge for the first game inside the new stadium..?]

"Pochettino and everyone you and I know will all be long dead by then."

Guessing no news is good news on the cramp/potential hammy issue at the end of the Liverpool game.

Put his feet up tonight and see if Llorente can get off the mark (y)
