If Kane is really close to going then I hope he is on the bench and comes on for 2 mins at the end for a huge send off moment, if it’s not as close as ITK and reports think then fine if he starts, otherwise Richy should be starting all day long.

Modric etc. Went to much bigger clubs with much much higher wages.

Due to our growth we managed to get the best years of Kane and pay him much higher wages than we might previously have thought possible.

It's unfortunate we had a few years of stagnation and kane has aged to the point it's best to leave. The board made mistakes over the past few years but they've clearly done something right to get us to this point.

I agree. We have seen that when the likes of Real Madrid come calling even much more successful clubs than ourselves, like Man U and Chelsea struggle to hold onto their best players. It’s conceivable that we could have won a few trophies and Kane might still have wanted to leave for one of the mega clubs. It’s just a reality you have to deal with when you have world class players.

Also it’s not like we don’t operate the same way: e.g Son from Bayern Leverkusen, Romero from Atalanta, Bissouma from Brighton, Richarlison from Everton etc

I hope he plays the full 90 just to see the resulting friction as some testicles get ground together in here. The heat generated will probably make global warming look like someone striking a match :playful:

I think he's gone but should we accept and he then turn down Bayern the meltdown from them and the German media would be something so epic I'd feast on it for years.

A few years of stagnation is being hugely generous and high wages is ignoring woeful lack of bollocks in bringing in the players which would have delivered cups. High wages would have been Hs icing on the cake league and euro wins would have kept him here. It seems your severely neglectful of the reasons he’s leaving by sugarcoating the positives on what ENIC have done for us.
Gundogan has just left City. Their owners must not be showing enough ambition or he just wants a new challenge.

How much are we reading into his inclusion or absence from the friendly today?

He plays he stays?
Not included = gone?

I don’t think we can draw conclusions either way, except maybe the longer he plays the further away we are from a deal- probably.

But he could be left out and still stay, as was the case a couple years ago.

He could also play and we end up striking a deal next week.

If he does start the body language expert analysis is going to be off the charts :D.

that's a crazy way of looking at things.

I would actually say it was almost unfortunate he came through when we were building the stadium. If he came though now, with our level of spending since the extra revenues have started being realised, we would have been able to build a better squad around him.

Mistakes were made with the last couple of managers, for sure, but I always got the feeling they were almost to placate Kane’s desire for trophies. If he had come through after the Poch era I think we would have continued along the same path of progressive managers and probably would have actually won some trophies. All ifs and buts, I get that, I’m just glad I got to experience the best spurs player ever in his pomp. However, I am really excited for this next generation that Ange is building.

Keep telling yourself it’s the same situation if it makes you feel better.

Of course it’s a different situation but the idea the Man City owners are “ambitious” makes about as much sense as Paris Hilton being “ambitious” about having the best designer handbag collection in the world or Roman Abramovich being ambitious about having the best super yacht in the port.

Had he not been around for the Poch era there is a huge case for that era being nowhere near the success it was and then that stadium build becomes much much harder.

Harry was integral to that team and yeah we would have had another striker but one anywhere near as prolific and effective as Harry? Highly highly doubtful.

I love the Ange appointment and can't wait to see him do his thing but the decisions the club has made these past few years have been almost shambolic, it's still a mess now and that's not to do with money as some has been spent although it was never going to be enough for a Conte or Mourinho

Harry is a once in a lifetime player from the academy, not only have we been lucky to see him but the club has been incredibly lucky to have him.

They're cheats but that doesn't mean they aren't ambitious of course they are.
