If City are offering 100 million and one of Silva, Laporte or Jesus, it’s not a bad offer. Either we get a player who improves our first team and 100 million to replace Kane. Or we get a competent striker and lots of money to invest in the squad. The problem is, as many here have said, is why would they join us?

The only reason would be regular action. Jesus might want to get regular first team action and reports say his wages wouldn’t be an issue for us. Unsure about the other wages but if they work for us, I think they are worth it - except Sterling, who plays in Son’s position.

Selling your best player isn’t all bad if you make good decisions. LiverpoolandChelsea sold their best player and have gone to better things.

The only thing keeping Kane is emotion, which counts for a lot in football. But he had his best ever season for us just now and we had our worst season in 10 years. Teams matter more and if City’s offer helps us improve the team then why not. Who knows, maybe selling Kane helps us both win trophies. Win-win?

Realistically, City aren’t going to offer us a player in exchange they actually want. Laporte is probably about as good as we could hope, and I think he would transform our defence, but he has to agree to join which is a long shot in our current position

They’d rather play no striker than play Jesus, Ake isn’t good enough and can’t get in the Dutch team even though Van Dijk is out and Zinchenko or Mendy aren’t any better than what we have already. So either they stump up the £180m or Kane stays

Player swaps always seem a recipe for disaster to me, not that they happen very often.

"Hey we think this new player is so much better than you we are paying for him and using you as a makeweight"
"sort of hello makeweight, come on then i suppose... "

It just doesn't seem the best way to bring a new player in. Maybe the odd player thinks to themselves i will show all of you, but to be honest I'd refuse if i was a player just on pride ffs.

Player swaps usually only work if the actual players want to come to us which I very much doubt they do.

Yep. If a City player comes to us, we would need the following aspects:

1. match his wages.
2. offer him more football than he gets at City.
3. no other more attractive team wants him.

I think we need him gone this summer, it just seems the right time to cash in and reshape the team. We will of course find him irreplaceable but it was the same when the likes of Carrick, Modric, Berbatov and Bale went, the show will go on.

£150m in this market could get us the 3 or maybe 4 players we need to be competitive, especially if one is a cut price Danny Ings.

would love a deal that involved Phil Foden - but I know that’s a complete dream.

hopefulky Cotys bid spurs United I to life and we get a bidding war

I agree. We have reached a point where we need to rebuild and as much as I love the guy he wont be part of that - he wont be staying for that new rebuild and project. It is even more pertinent given the fact we need to invest in the entire squad and we have very limited funds to do so it seems. Id rather have 10/11 very very good players who fit the system than one world class and four or five very good proven players.

It does feel like it needs to be the end and what we need to do now is set the deadline for Man City to pay up or shut up. The issue is how can we make decisions when we dont even have a manager. It is a mess.

No way

with their XG and a striker like Kane they would be challenging for the league

at least City are already better than us
Lol keep hearing this and it's rubbish. If Brighton had Harry Kane (or any top striker for that matter) teams would set up differently against them. People say if Potter had a top striker Brighton would be challenging. Thing is Brighton don't have a top striker so are Brighton playing to their strengths creating chances for nobody?

Still holding very strong Levy still telling anyone who asks he is not going anywhere this season.

Would take the 150m straight cash this summer if offered. We can then work on rebuilding our team in core areas. The longer we leave it the more his value will start to decline as he ages. Love Harry but love Tottenham more.

Is that before or after he tears up the contract they’ve just agreed in front of them? ?
I think it's legit tbh. Unless he outright puts in a transfer request I can't see Levy selling him. Even then I don't think anyone will pay the asking price, and you might as well completely ignore any cash plus players deals.

Oh I don’t doubt it’s legit, Levy has form for it unless either the behaviour of the players or the size of the bid means that keeping the player is no longer the best decision.

I’m only laughing at the fact that Levy is showing ambition, decisiveness and ‘big club mentality’, whatever that means but doing the exact opposite in this summers other key issue.

Normally I'd be completely against it as I know player's of Kane's ability and determination are so rare, especially to club's like ourselves.

But with financial issues hitting Europe it is very possible that players will be available on cheaper deals. Guys like Sabitzer are being touted at around £15m.

But if we sold Kane it wouldn't be to buy 2 £70m players. It would be another sell Bale, buy numerous players kind of a transfer window. Due to our full squad we'd still need to find buyers for at least 4 of our deadwood players to make this worth our while.

But as I don't trust us to make the right purchases I still err on the side of keeping Kane if possible.

Our team is so mediocre being propped up by a few world class or capable players! I certainly don't want Kane to go but since we have very little money to spend it could be the right time.

Many players I have seen being up for sale are good prices and if we had the Kane money in the right hands could really change the squad drastically. I think this would give us more of a team and less one or two individuals carrying the rest!

I suppose it all depends on what you can get for the deadwood, e.g. Aurier, Sanchez, Dier, Winks, Sissoko, Lamela, Lucas and Doherty can all go in my opinion.

Had a chance encounter with Charlie Kane yesterday. We were coming out of the Uefa ticketing centre before the game yesterday and I turned round and there he was. Seemed genuinely chuffed that someone recognised and referred to him by his name, rather than him being the brother of H.

I said to him I wouldn't give him too much shit (about briefing the press), asked him if Harry will stay ("We'll see" was the response) and said we all want him to stay, and then left him alone to make his way to the stadium.

Nothing earth shattering, he was hardly going to give anything definitive away to a half pissed bloke wearing an England top, but thought I'd share anyway.

Please don't take me in anyway for some sort of board game geek but whenever I hear mention of Charlie Kane I can't help but picture this chap from the Eldritch Horror game...

To be fair, your post is a lot more informative than my original one was. I'd never heard of the Eldritch Horror game until you mentioned it :)
