Yes, but what if now they spent £100m on Grealish they don't come up with that bid? What then?

To be honest the fact the Grealish transfer has happened just makes me think they now know they've got enough for Kane.

At the start of the summer I'd have been desperate for him to stay but all it does now is make Nuno's job even harder. Harry couldn't make it any more obvious about how little he cares about the club and how much he wants to leave.

Charlie Kane would sit in the stands as a fan. Does he realise he can never do that again now? Does he realise that he would probably be assaulted by someone if he attempted to watch "his team"?

The situation is getting worse. I'd say he's right up there with Sol Campbell.

Funny thing is, I want him gone, he actually makes me sick. But this is all to get his way and move and I really, really don't want him to get his way. So I'd love it if we could find a way to not sell. Keep him and bench him. Not easy, I know, especially on 200k a week. But that would make such a wonderful statement. This **** should not get his own way. We should bring him on every game in the 89th minute and just boo him. Who the fuck does he think he is?

Charlie don’t Care

Would make a great T-shirt that.

Then that is the price we pay for not settling this earlier as it should have done with clear communication and signposted saying - 31st July 160m if not then he is staying... and leave it at that... instead we are now in a position where we have a cloud. This happened with Bale, happened with Berbatov and happened with Modric... but really Bale and Berbatove had this logn ass cloud hanging over the club for a while.
Does feel like this has been coming and should have been anticipated by the club and expectations regarding value and timeframes set down. none of that excuses Kane’s behaviour which is outrageously disrespectful, devious and childish.

they've either pulled the trigger on grealish for the reasons above or because they've given up on Harry after seeing our stance hasn't changed

The fact he hasn't even bothered to meet the new manager and DoF yet really is a childish move from him. Dug himself a massive hole which I don't see how it gets out of, managed to alienate the only fans that ever loved him.

This part of your post I really connect with. The amount of shit I've had to listen to from rival fans over the years about him, and defended his performances.
  • People taking the piss about his lisp
  • Squaring it to Sterling
  • One season wonder stuff back at the start of 15/16 season
  • Tap in merchant
These are just a few of the main ones that I've gone out of my way to defend him about, over the years. Just really, really disappoints me that he's just shown he doesn't really give a shit about the club as much as I thought he did. I would say "I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed", but to be honest, it's a bit of both.

The last couple of seasons I feel our squad has lost the brotherhood we used to have. In the peak Poch years we had no superstars and everyone was making a name for themselves and they played for each other. We may have gone a little ott in the ‘battle of the bridge’ but we did it because we were pissed off that everyone was mugging us off and praying for Leicester to win the league. It really made you proud to be a Spurs fan and we all went on the journey with that team as they all loved the club.

We all knew that team was coming to an end and the CL final was their swan song. It was a shame Dembele wasn’t still with us because I feel we may have got over the line with him and it would have been the perfect send off for that team. If we want to get to those heights again (or beyond) we really need to get that brotherhood back. We can’t do that with our star striker now acting like he’s bigger than the club. It’s a crap situation as I think he’s gone too far now to turn it around and I still don’t believe City will offer us the money necessary but we won’t be able to heal until he is out of the picture.

To add a further caveat. Keep him and it keeps a large cloud over the place. He might knuckle down and give his all but he won't be at his best, no one is when they are unhappy. His team mates know he desperately wanted to leave and so do the fans.

At this point the best case scenario is getting a huge bid from City and rebuilding.

We have to be willing to keep him, and Levy will if not for leverage as much as anything, but it's only kicking the can down the road at this point IMO

The flip side is he knows City won’t come in for him next year with Haaland, so he knuckles down, recommits himself to the club and we convince him with our new project as funds start to come in from match day revenue again. Optimistic as fuck but I really want that to happen

Some of Charlie Kane's ancestors also giving "expert" advice to famous people :

To the Captain of the Titanic "Left a bit, left a bit, whoa, MY left !"

To George Custer "They're singing and dancing over there tonight. Everything's fine"

(Come on, I'm sure you can think of some more) (y)
Nothing to do with famous people but the first situation that popped into my mind was Charlie working as a tour guide on active volcanoes…

”Molten lava’s quite warm this time of year but feel free to have a dip”

Sol campbell was way before I began supporting Spurs, but the way Kane is going about this right now is what I imagine as similar to what fans must have felt back then. Betrayal, disappointment, and anger.
Wanting to move is all good and well, but forcing it through like this? And to a rival to boot? I personally think it's a bit disgusting.
Nothing like Campbell, it’s bad but not that bad.

Agree. Kane’s been an idiot but was pretty clear this was coming. Not sure why we didn’t get out in front of it a bit more.

give him an extra week or two off anyway. The guys has played nonstop for 3 years. Remove the City game from the distraction pool anyway.

Do the dortmund with price and deadline. Up to Kane to get City to bid at that point. All out in the open.

Chelsea sold Hazard. Madrid sold Ronaldo. Barca sold Neymar. Selling players for huge fees is normal.

I appreciate the optimism but at this point I'm not sure he can repair his relationship with this club. He has totally shat on 16 years at the club in my opinion. Major disrespect.

Also there are going to be a lot of clubs with £75m saved up for Haaland next summer (plus about £40m in agent fees) and only one can get him. By that metric you'd imagine a couple would have him on their backup list so no doubt he'd want to leave again.

True but Mbappe will be available too. If Lukaku goes to Chelsea and Real get Mbappe, really only City and United can afford Haaland. I could see one going for Haaland and the other for Kane maybe, but I could also see City taking Haaland and United not bothering with Kane. Who knows, we might be a CL team again?

In an ideal World, when Kane returns from his jaunt around the World, he gets summoned to a meeting with Levy. After 20 or so minutes of getting nowhere, the door opens and it's the lesser spotted Joe Lewis. All eyes on Joe as he takes an age to find a spare chair and sit down, all the while, silence fills the air. When he is finally seated he looks Kane straight in the eyes and goes all Bricktop on him "Do you know what nemesis means?" Kane sits there open mouthed in shock as Lewis spells out why you don't piss off a billionaire. At the end of his speech, Lewis writes THFC a cheque for 200m and tells Levy to make sure Kane doesn't see first team football for any team for the remainder of his 3 year contract and the cheque should cover any losses of transfer fees and wages.

Probably best that I'm not a billionaire really because I could see myself spending millions just to spite someone who wronged me.

The question then is: do they have enough for Kane or do they THINK they have enough for Kane? Huge difference.

If he gets his move, Kane will never really be appreciated by the City fans, who don't particularly want him. He has never been that popular with England fans in general, not like Rooney was and certainly not like Shearer was. And whether he gets the move or not, he has now completely alienated most Spurs fans. Sure, he might go on to win some hollow trophies, but like Bale, he may grow to regret losing the adoration of the only fans who really cared.

I find it staggering that fans can’t see this is the only way out with our chairman.

how many times does it come to this? We end up ‘hating’ the want-away player

this was predicted months ago… it’s how Levy always ends up ok.

if he had backed Poch we wouldn’t be in this situation where we are upset a world class player doesn’t want to play for a 3rd rate team

It's one thing to be pissed at Levy and sulk about it. But to basically pull this stunt and tell all of us as fans, the same fans that adored him and constantly went to bat for him amongst our friends and colleagues by saying 'he's the best striker in the world' is just so fucked up. We showed him nothing but faith, support and respect and he does this. It's incredibly fucked up.

He doesn't expect us to be fine with it, he just doesn't give a toss.

His response to the fan backlash on Monday was to tell journalists it was "all blown out of proportion" and stop off for a few days in Florida.

So this is a Levy play to get us to hate Harry and accept getting rid...when all any of us wanted anyway was a fair price for him, and would accept him moving on? Top mindgames from Levy, there, unnecessarily pissing everyone off, and fair play to H for bogwashing his own reputation to sell the ruse.

Poch was as much at fault for us not making signings as anyone during those windows, so I think that argument needs to be shelved at this point.
