Dragon1 on COYS:
much as Harrys behavior is atrocious today this is on levy

he took club from 2nd position to 7th in 3 years , from a cl final to Europes third tier comp

refusing to back posh in summers of 17 and 18 then the disastrous posh / Jose switch

grealish should have been a spurs player for 25 million

contrary to reports that city would not include Sancho in the walker deal they are false we would not pay Sancho the wages he wanted, those were two huge errors

we are in this place because of levy horrific footballing decisions , no other CEO/MD would have lasted through this episode of vast incompetency
Right on. The guy who took us up to 2nd was exactly what we needed. But then this Levy mug came round and undid all his good work.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting he’s handled this well!?

The bottom line is we need him this season. You can get bogged down in holding a grudge, or you can look at the bigger picture and realise that booing him doesn’t really help anyone.
Very true.

I like to think in general I understand that footballers see football differently to fans. Players will want to play for better clubs, earn more money and win trophies etc. Fans will talk about loyalty but they never complain when we buy a player from a smaller team.

But for me watching Kane develop has been amazing. We have had young players with a fair amount of hype. I remember us buying Dean Parrett and there was lots of talk about him being better than Gerrard at a young age. Crystal Palace were incensed when we bought John Bostock for peanuts from a tribunal. Neither did anything for us.

Kane though didn't seem to come with much hype at all. His loans at Norwich and Leicester were unspectacular and his very early performance in the EL for us didn't scream this guy would become the best striker in the world.

But then he stepped up in amazing fashion. In his first full season for us he scored 21 in 34 in the league for us and has consistently been among the top scorers ever since.

More importantly, he seemed dedicated to the club. He gave his all and appeared to want to achieve at the top, but with us. In 2018 he signed a big money, 6 year contract and dedicated himself to us.

If there were any doubt in his mind about staying he could have signed a 4 or 5 year contract.

For the first time in a long time, we had a talisman. A top quality player who would be here long term. A local lad who just wanted to play football. It meant the world to the fans. "He's one of our own," isn't just a chant. The fans really meant it.

So seeing Kane push so hard for a move is very hard to take. The tactics by his brother and Kane not correcting him or telling him to be quiet have really hurt his reputation and relationship with the fans.

Kane's statement tries to deflect but it hasn't achieved the desired result. I will hope he continues to perform to the same level and hope he can hit 20+ goals again for us. Who knows, he might even fall back in love with the club and see out his prime with us.

But part of me has lost that excitement and connection to Kane now. He just seems like any other footballer doing a job.

But there's no point in booing him. Everyone just has to make the best of the situation.

Booing Kane would be counter productive and create a negative atmosphere that will affect the whole team.
Not singing his name is better, especially if it means we sing the names of players who deserve it more (Højbjerg, Son, Lloris, etc.).
The ground needs to be noisy and full of positive energy, especially after 18 months of football behind closed doors. Our stadium was designed with amazing acoustics to create a crescendo of noise to help the team. Let's use that to our advantage.

Only an idiot would boo him in the stadium

Disregarding the fact he’s disobeyed the hierarchy, wondering we didn’t give him an extra week off when he asked for it. Probably hasn’t played as much as the likes of Pedri but I can get why the England captain would need extended time off with his family.

Wouldn’t surprise me if there’s been a WhatsApp group made by the players to talk about Kane where they all agreed not to acknowledge Kane’s post

These are the potential outcomes in order of preference:

1. Harry apologises, signs a new contract that includes a suitable release clause, and knuckles down and performs to the best of his ability this season.

2. Joe Lewis decides to personally fund us making an example of Kane and he is banished to the reserves until he publicly apologises to the club and the fans for unacceptable behaviour. If he does not do this he spends the next 3 years playing no senior football.

3. Man City make us an offer we cannot refuse and he is gone before the season starts, with the money reinvested in the first team.

4. Harry realises he will not get his move this summer and knuckles down and performs to the best of his ability this season and we repeat the circus next summer.

5. Harry sulks and plays crap and agitates for a move in January.

Realistically, 1-3 are not going to happen, so I think we'll have to make do with #4 and hope #5 does not happen.

I’ve come round to the idea that Harry did not act with the clubs best interest when it comes to this holiday, but this has been the first season he’s ever done this. Maybe the whole not winning a trophy and the euro finals got to him and that he felt he really needed time away from the game to get his head straight. The fact he’s never done this before I’m willing to forgive him and forget. I’m more interested to see how he develops from here. Bringing the pitchforks out is way over the top but that’s my opinion.

Apparently he also came back late last season.

But surely Kane isn't the only one in this boat.

Other players have families, have played in the Euros and might want an extra week's rest.

But if the club wants you back on training then that's it. The player doesn't just get to decide they get an extra week's holiday.

Harry won’t sulk he’s got the World Cup next year. Do you think he’s going to jeopardise his chance by sulking? Not a chance in hell!

and no 2 is just dumb.

Does not talk about looking forward to the season with the club, or getting training underway . It’s quite an underwhelming typical scripted apology .
I just rewatched that interview. Hugo Lloris…what a man. Somehow he managed to say, in his second language, everything I was feeling but didn’t know how to say in my first language.

That night and that comp Kane should have taken by the scruff of the neck. The best players in the world do this, he hasn’t ever done this when we have really needed.

His actions recently and his injuries show we can’t rely on him like we thought we could rely on

Well, it is in order of my preference, and I do get to choose my own opinion after all (when my wife is not around at least). And I did say 1 - 3 will not realistically happen, so really option 4 or 5.

And I stand by #2. I'd rather Man C did not get Kane, and we get a world class replacement funded by Joe Lewis (however unlikely).

My thoughts on this are that Harry needs to feel the consequence of his selfish actions. If he stays, I think he will he booed initially and rightly so.

It shouldn't be something that continues indefinitely, it's counter productive. But I think he needs to feel the strength of feeling from the fans on this. Fast forward a month or two and if he's knuckled down, these things will gradually be forgotten. But he needs to earn it first.
I don’t think booing him is the way forward, if all supporters gave him the silent treatment it’d confuse the hell out of him and in my mind is an even stronger message to him as to how us supporters feel about him at the moment.
