I found it really insulting (to Kane, Spurs and Spurs fans) that the media were trying to sell his performance yesterday as Kane wanting to prove to Man City and their fans what he is capable of / what they are missing. That is total bullshit. As he said himself, the motivation was we'd lost three on the bounce and he wants to win. To even suggest he raised his game to impress or punish them is ridiculous.

Yet totally predictable.

Magnificent performance, wonderful player when he's motivated but let's not pretend he won't be looking to jump ship as soon as we hit rough waters.

Glad to have him playing for us, still a bit of a knob.

counter attacks suit kane and son - today's performance was right out of mourinho's play book - he'll be laughing his head off.

If you give kane that sort of space, that's what he can do.
Counter attacks might suit them but tonight was about playing through the press. None of the goals were from counters (even including the disallowed one)

Kane was fookin' fantastic last night but I think it's kinda funny that so many pundits are saying stuff like "best performance ever in a Spurs shirt" etc.

I swear Kane had at least 10 performances at this level under Jose and plenty more absolutely incredible ones under Poch. I know his game has matured and now he combines the no.9/10 roles, but again that's nothing especially new.

Seems like a classic case of recency bias after a fairly barren half-season. He was absolutely brilliant but...he's been this brilliant fairly regularly over the past 5 years.
i agree, but also in terms of productivity, he was amazing every time he got the ball yesterday which is superhuman level of good, and away to the champions, doesn't get much better than that

I think today is an illustration of what fitness brings, We were great under Poch because amongst other things there was a real emphasis on fitness.
Conte brings that same level and Harry clearly benefits from this, he looks so much leaner than the last couple of years.

not just this, I rem an interview where conte was about to blurt out what he was working with Kane on… then he decided to use the word “fitness” instead.

won’t b surprised if conte has special conditioning work with H just like he did with Lukaku, to make their core strength so strong they could hold off defenders and win their physical battles.

it’s been a while since we saw Kane react quicker, half step ahead and physically shrug away players and protect the ball.

He was up for it for sure, but to sprint into the box to get on the end of both son’s balls (one goal, the other saved by ederson outstretched foot) and after his sublime left foot cross field to Royal (and was open for a header if royal crossed better) is unlike any Kane we know + he looked like he could go on another 30 mins.

True he’s had a lot of great performances over the years but last night is at the top of the tree for me. The one criticism of him over the years was that he doesn’t take the biggest games by the scruff of the neck. 3 losses in a row and away to the league leaders he did exactly that last night. Put the whole team on his back. Special performance

I don't know about this, I don't think you're taking into account that this is Man City, at their ground, 14 wins out of last 15, to do what he did in this game against this opposition was out of this world, it was as complete a performance as you're likely to see from a striker in a game of this magnitude against an opponent of such a level, they're in footballing terms the best team in the world. He only had something like 36-38 touches and each of them was significant in a way that I can't remember a player ever having such potency with each touch of the ball.

It says at the time he was being a tit and at that time he could do one. He has turned it around and is back in form and seems to be pulling in the same direction. He agitated for a move in the summer and was behaving like a tit. The poll is representative of how we felt about him when the poll was made.....

Personally, I wouldn't hold how someone voted back then against them. What I would say though, is the contempt, spite and outright vitriol aimed at him was way over the top and how anyone felt back then is no excuse for that.

Did anyone else notice that Kane didn’t do the pressing it was PEH and Bentancor that would press the CBs of city and Harry would hang around Rodri. I’m guessing it was to limit the energy Kane used and to block a passing option to city.
