FC Bayern Munich is looking for a new centre-forward this summer. Harry Kane has already been chosen. If he really left England, Michael Reschke would be "surprised".

Between 2014 and 2017 Reschke worked at FC Bayern Munich as technical director. The 65-year-old knows the processes at the German record champions and the European transfer market very well. And that's why he writes in his interjection in the Thursday edition of kicker: "The people of Munich can't keep up when bidding for the top 10 players on this planet, with calibers like Mbappé or Haaland."

However, he sends a restriction directly afterwards. "But FCB's appeal still attracts top international players, and the club could handle 80 to 100 million euros in transfer deals if there is total conviction," Reschke is certain: "Behind Real Madrid, FC Bayern will be on an equal footing with Manchester City , Barcelona or Liverpool are perceived as absolute top clubs."

The comparison between the Premier League and the Bundesliga is a hindrance in the competition for stars. Not only the financial framework or the sporting quality played a role, but also the "significantly higher perception worldwide" - keyword TV and social networks - should not be underestimated.

The fact that top English players also have a "strong connection to the Premier League" is often an additional, insurmountable hurdle when it comes to transfer requests. In relation to Harry Kane, Reschke also says: "I would be surprised if he leaves England."

Reschke then calculates the total package that the captain of the English national team would cost Bayern: including the transfer fee and salary for five years, "an investment of around 180 to 200 million euros".

Reschke knows about the goals with which those responsible in Munich would have to guide Kane - still completely without a title in his career - to the state capital: "If Bayern succeeds in signing him, his sporting incentive would certainly not be part of the twelfth championship title in a row. His transfer would be a clear signal that we want to win the Champions League."

In the event of a Kane transfer, Bayern would also have to keep an eye on the issue of "squad hygiene". Especially in midfield and attack, Reschke sees a competitive situation "that could hardly be moderated".

Ange does not strike me as someone who will make a hard sell to Kane. He'll say something like - "I think we can do great things with this squad, and we would like you to be part of that story. But, if your heart is set on someplace else, I'll respect that too."

Oh i'm not hanging on his every word certainly and also why it wasn't worthy of the ITK thread but thought it interesting enough to post in relevant individual threads.

I don't see any indication that Kane is going to extend his contract. There would need to be a pretty remarkable turn around in the football before he would change his mind. I think Ange is a good appointment but I can't see that sort of change happening in 1 season.

I don't think it would be responsible running of the club to pin it on the hope of him signing a new deal at this stage. We have to draw the line somewhere for the good of the club

agree. but the point is nothing is set in stone and should Ange be the remedy for all things DL, Kane will evaluate his future accordingly. saw this tweet which is an exaggeration but has an element of truth in it nonetheless. cheers

Yeh, Jonathan David looks awful tbh. Technically awful. One of those guys who gets good stats like Nunez, but most of his goals have come off his shin…

Whether it’s this year or next I don’t see who you could get who’d come close to Kane’s quality output - maybe Toney.

Yeah he had a terrible season, seems completely shot of any confidence and is not the kind of player to fit an Ange system. I remember when he came on against us in the CL, he missed two huge chances where he should have buried both. I don't want to judge him on a few games as I haven't seen enough of him. But I was all for signing him when we were linked and he was at Club Brugge. I just don't feel he is the right kind of player we need now.

I've gone several rounds with my friends over the Kane situation because they kept saying the only reason he would stay at Spurs is a lack of ambition. I argued that isn't the only reason and that trying to win at Spurs is more ambitious than moving to win trophies, so evidently it can't be the only reason. They just would not give me an inch and I realised what bothered me was just how inconsiderate it was. As if as a Spurs fan I'm gonna sit here and go, ah yeah staying at Spurs lacks ambition because we're going to do nothing, be nothing and I'm wrong to have hope about my football team.

For this reason, he simply has to stay and we have to win the treble this season because my feelings have been hurt by them disrespecting spurs and I'm mad about it

You sound like every paid professional and book that ever speaks to me I found a way to continue caring but not let it affect me, realising that people need to see thing's certain ways for their own sake, so as soon as people can't give an inch, it's their problem. I just hope Spurs force the issue and prove a lot of people wrong by turning it round aggressively under Ange. It's a hope, not an expectation though.
