Given the family situation and “if” things work out on the pitch this coming season and he can name his price why wouldn’t he stay?
Because he wants to win trophies. He doesn't feel he can do that at Spurs. I'm not sure the recent activity, Maddison aside, is going to go that far towards changing his mind tbh.
If Levy is the master tactician many on here think he is, he really has to sell Kane to Bayern this summer. Anything else is just a punt.
I guess we could insist in a clause in his contract with Bayern for Spurs to be given first dibs if Kane wishes to return to England, like we did (I think) with Bale.

I tend to look back at when Glen left us. There was no concrete factual reason at all.

He just said 'I'd like to try a new challenge'....and both for him and Harry, it's entirely understandable as they were with us from very young. Glen had a wonderful time at Monaco and I'm sure Harry would amaze at Bayern.

If he genuinely wants to go and Bayern at least get to the 90 mill mark...then, with gratitude for his stunning career with us, we should bid a fond farewell....and buy a killer new striker with the cash double quick.

I don't want him to go down in history as one of the greatest ever footballers to never win anything.

Man City are the only English club guaranteed to win anything next season and they don't need him so Bayern or PSG seem the obvious choices if Levy decides to cash in this summer.

We'll not be able to replace him though if he goes.

I don't understand why people still say they don't want the generational talent of our own Harry Kane to stay even one more year? We're not a poor club, we don't need his fee to buy players this summer, or any other transfer window. I want him here as long as he can be to bang in goals/assists to get us along with the rest of the team, as far as we can in all comps.

We can't replace him, and that's a fact, we're just not big enough club to attract anyone of his quality back so why wish him away? And why on earth do people think he'll go to any other club other than Man City, if he's leaving for trophies, that's where he'll go. Not Man Utd, and certainly not Chelsea!!!

I can understand it to be honest. If you were a player about to get his big break, feeling really confident in your ability and chomping at the bit, do you join Spurs knowing Kane is first pick in your position? If Kane goes we could be seen as a better option for that (ok, imaginary) person.

I am not sure if I am pro him staying and going for nothing or leaving and us cashing in. Ultimately it is his choice. He has the power now.

Yeah I can't get on board with that thinking to be honest. Its likely we won't see a talent like Harry in a Spurs shirt for a very long time (and for older fans, if ever).

I don’t think what we’ve spent is Kane money, but we have spent well over £100m on 5 players including the Kulu and Porro deals
I think we've now spent 80 mil on Porro, because when I was complaining about not backing Conte in January, enough folk were telling me we'd just spent 40 mil on porro. Now it appears we've just had to buy him again out of another windows budget.

If the Porro deal is now coming out of the Summer budget it means we spent nothing once again in January. You can't have it both ways.

So if Kane leaves, big if I know, do we stick with Richy or do we go out and buy another striker. There aren’t that many in world football who would be available.

I’m not trying to have anything both ways, and clearly stated I don’t think we are spending Kane money. I also didn’t say anything at all about what we spent in January. Was just responding to someone saying we have spent 50m this summer.

For the manage it doesn't really matter when it will be paid. It matters when he has a player available to work with.

That wouldn’t be entirely our fault, though: he’s been in four finals and scored 0 goals.
You can't blame him for not winning those finals!! He's not the only player on the pitch and if no one else shows up he can't do it on his own everytime, despite trying.

Oh wasn't aimed at you I just quoted your post because it mentioned it. Apologies it was just meant as a general 'you' because posters are using it as reference to how much we've spent this Summer(y)

So that means we spent nothing In January and only 20 odd million the one before that right?

So should have loads to play with as one of the richest clubs in the world.
Don’t disagree with any of that, and not sure why people seem to have decided my response means I think we are broke, can’t/won’t invest or are using Kane money.

Thanks - the reality is cash flow is completely different from when players arrive anyway and it isn’t clear to me (you may know more of course) how budgets are set in that regard. To McFlash’s point I would generally just view it as when the player is available to the manager but do think you have to treat long loan to buys slightly differently especially if they are an option. So Kulu intuitively feels like he should come from this years budget, but we probably planned for that accordingly so doesn’t necessarily mean we have less to spend on elsewhere

- Just because we're not poor doesnt mean the extra cash (and a a large sum at that) doesnt help. We are definitely not on the financial level of the teams we are trying to compete with, if we aspire to be in the top four that is.
- We also see him leave the prem if it is Bayern, as opposed to next year when there's every chance he stays in the prem on a free - i think the attitude to this potential transfer would be different if we were talking United or City coming in with the bids.
- We get him for one more year if he stays, in a rebuild year - and by the very fact we're keeping him that extra year we are not fully committing to the rebuild. However we reshape the team once he's gone, lets start that now, we have to think forwards a bit.
Anyway I fully understand why some fans want to keep him one more year it but for me just doesnt make that much sense for any other reason than seeing harry score 25+ goals in our colours one more time.

The more Bayern come back with offers the more i suspect Harry's up for joining them this summer, i doubt they'd want to do that multiple times, get an offer eventually accepted only for Harry to turn around and say no thanks.

We'll see over the next few weeks i guess!

I’m not suggesting it was his fault; my argument is he’s had chances with club and country. It’s not his fault, but it’s not everybody else’s (ie us as a club or England as a squad) either.

Its somewhat an 'it is what it is' scenario for him. People say he's not won a trophy, but its a team game and as you say he's been there for club and country so not just a Spurs thing.
