You have to wonder how these meetings go.

Bayern ”How much.”
Levy “It’s a secret.”
Bayern: Oh please tell us, we have the greatest respect for you.
Levy “it’s A secret…”
Bayern: “How about 75 million?
Levy: “pounds?”
Bayern “No Euros of course.”
Levy: No.

Repeat ad infinitum.

This could mean 1 of 2 things IMO.
Either Levy has just added some extra wedge onto what he wants for Kane or an agreement has been reached, which involves them keeping schtum until we’ve done some business.

Did someone mention there used to be an 'optimistic' button?

We'll probably end up getting an extra £5-£10m and Levy will see that as a win for him.

But this state of limbo and uncertainty doesn't suit anyone.

It's so tedious.

Its very easy to just throw a £5-10m number out there like its not real money. But say it slowly.... that's £5 to £10 MILLION pounds. I get its frustrating (and we should still have signed centre backs etc) but it is amusing how people think that we should just give up a possible Ten Million Pounds to get something done quickly. I certainly wouldn't hire you as a CEO or CFO. 🙃

So just sign some centre backs and take the hit if we don't sell him. It's not like we can't, it's that we won't. Honestly there's no point holding onto Kane if you have no intention to be competitive. Sort the defence out and leave ourselves with a strong squad with Kane. If we sell Kane on deadline day we still have a strong squad without desperately running around for signings.

It's pretty clear that we're waiting on the Kane deal before pulling the trigger on CB's

Is that money worth missing out on key targets before the start of the season?

I don't think so personally.

Hold on…tedious?

What you talking about?

This is high level football. It’s not the entertainment business.

To be honest, maybe Levy got told about Ashley Phillips's's's confidential release clause and thought, hang on a second ...

As someone on the "DL get out of the football side" of the business, this is a smart play given the hand he's got. The pressure has to be building on the BM side. as the Plettenberg post sounds like a bit of face saving. Would hope he would move forward with a CB in the immediate future to further emphasize operations continue regardless of the negotiation. If they are serious, they'll cough it up quickly. Rinse em for every penny you can Daniel.

Bayern " he wants us so honour his wishes"
Levy "come say to my face"
Bayern "OK Monday lunchtime"
Levy " it's on"
Bayern to his face "he wants us so honour his wishes"
Levy "No"
Bayern "but we fly all his way for a waste of time?"
Levy "no of course not, stadium tour starts in 10 minutes, 35 euro"

Watch this get drawn out for another week or two, while we miss our top targets, and then sign Lenglet at the end of the window.

Wait, did people think the “public” news out of this meeting was going to be a deal agreed? That was never going to happen.

But that £5-10million pounds is a trade off for us not being ready and strong for the start of the season which could say cost us 6-9 pts which could be the difference between 4th & 5th or a trophy which is either a difference of about £30mil and/or the whole point of football which is sporting success not who can make the most profit.

Whether both clubs have agreed a deal that will be kept under their hats for 7/10 days or not, there is zero excuses for us not to bring in a CB this week.
