Totally agree. Obviously it's a high stakes negotiation but if he wants to go, get the best price you can now and then buy some defenders. If this ends up dragging on until the end of the window it will fuck us big time.
You guys know how Levy operates, he will drag every penny out this deal. Right or wrong.

So question for the masses:

Assume that Kane is definitely leaving (i.e. he and the club know, but the deal has not been announced) - what part should he play in the match against Shakhtar?

I go back and forth - but I am currently leaning towards keep him, and the distraction, away, given that the team is preparing for the season.

But, I can also see wanting to give him a late run out to say his good byes. I would let him say his good byes via social media - like most players, and keep the squad focused on the task at hand.
He shouldn't play - it's not like a Prem game. It's a friendly. We should be preparing for life without him

It’s likely that BM are thinking very logically and believing that in accordance with orthodoxy, no club turns down 80m for a player they could lose for nothing in a year.

But DL really doesn’t play by usual rules. And even we don’t know if he would ultimately be prepared to risk a “no deal” and lose him in a year.

Wouldn't be surprised if the deal was agreed today but Baldy asked for 24-48 hours before announcing to plant stories that Bayern are 20mil away from 'the price' so we come out looking strong, but also fair to Kane

The way things are going we'll have our squad nice and sorted for 5th game of the season after the international break.

Definitely won't come back to bite us! (y)
It only matters if you care for any kind of success on the field. Unfortunately Levy and the gang only care for success in the spreadsheets.

The fans, players and manager always pay the consequences.

The deal is going to happen. Everyone is over the emotional hump: Kane is ready to leave and the club is ready to sell him.

What’s left are the details: a bit of haggling over the final price and some toing and froing over when it’s announced.

Kane has been a great player; I’ve loved watching him play and he’s given me great joy.

But it’ll be good for him to have new challenges and the club is embarking on a new era and new style of play so it’s not a bad time for the change.

I'm ready for Harry to leave. So many memories

All things come to pass. I will be watching him jealously wherever he goes, but my remaining love is for Tottenham, come September 57 years not out.

This delay helps nobody, least of all us, who will likely not strengthen until this mess is clear.
Agree with everyone saying this but so far Bayern's last bid was reported to be £68mil 80mil euros so for the sake of getting it done quicker what price would people be naming to Bayern to say we will deal at x price to get this done? £80mil, £90mil, £100mil? because as of right now it seems Levy isn't giving a price but Bayern will also drag it out so we are in a bit of a rock and a hard place right now.

Levy is like one of those Scrabble players who finds himself with a Z and spends the next dozen moves eyeing up the triple word score, not realising the whole of the game is passing him by.

He could overplay his (weak) hand and Bayern steps down leaving us with a digruntled Kane that walks for free next year.

That would be a nightmare scenario for Daniel.

I don't particularly mind Levy negotiating and haggling to get the best price, but I hope he doesn't employ what seems to be our normal MO of wait and let time apply pressure. If this drags into the 3rd or 4th week of the season that's bad for us. Getting a good price is important, but time matters, too, especially if this hampers our other business like CBs (although it shouldn't obviously).

Yeah this is what really worries me, more than Kane leaving to be honest.

Because 100 mill seems to be the magic number, It’s not implausible to me to suppose this could go right to the end of the window over a few mill. Rightly or wrongly I can imagine Levy holding out as long as possible for that 100, for optics, for ego, as a show of strength etc

I also wouldn't be surprised if we treat this identical to the Bale scenario. We line up and sign our replacements for CB and the backup striker/attacker, and then announce the deal. This seems to be the way Levy likes to save face and may also help us on the negotiation front with Wolfsburg and Leverkusen (although everyone and their mother knows we are selling at this point so I don't see how that leverage helps).

I agree with you. If he is away Richarlison needs to play. Gives him a chance to build up fitness and get used to Ange tactics.
