Most people in here last night were saying he was gone today. Now backtracking. It's a little bit embarrassing.
I think you may need to point that finger of blame towards Herc and how this place reacts to itk.
People were just reacting to what Herc posted last night.

You can't hold the itk up as a shining light of this site, then get critical when people hang on their every word.

Flying somewhere twice in a month to sign a player & coming up well short both times & multiple offers in between is absolutely laughable. Please get serious Bayern. Put up the money or fuck off.
I put most of the blame at Levy's door. Having said that they know what he's like and these low bids are just a waste of time as Kane isn't going to throw his toys out the pram with a year left.

Was really hoping we would have some closure one way or another on this but it's clearly going to drag on for some time yet. Just feel sorry for Ange tbh. We are now under two weeks until our first game, we still have no new CB's and our star player's future is in serious doubt. Nothing surprises me anymore with this club, even when we have a new manager who clearly wants to get us playing exciting football that I'm really looking forward to watching, I'm still just pissed off!
Before I say what i'm going to say below, I'm pleased we appointed Ange, I like him, and like the potential direction we can go.

I do think that we went for Ange rather than seriously going for Tuchel or Nagelsmann is because the latter 2 wouldn't have put up with the shit Ange is currently having to deal with.

Ange's personality definitely doesn't come across as a yes man, but seeing as this is his first big job (No offence Celtic) He will be a yes man for atleast the first year.

The last thing Levy wanted before appointing a new manager was being called out again publicly like Conte rightfully did.

To stay on topic, this whole Kane situation should have been sorted weeks ago, been said many times, set a price to Bayern and a deadline then move on.

All it does is leave us in the fucking stupid limbo, wondering whether we will have £90+ million or not. It also should absolutely not effect buying atleast 1 top centre back.

I presume you're blaming this on Levy / the board. How many of your bullet points came from the horses mouth and how many were rumours / speculation?

Which other teams were in the middle of building an £800m stadium during Brexit and the pandemic?
Mistakes have certainly been made, but it was to be expected that we would be impacted by these factors far more significantly than any other PL team was.

Arsenal is an odd comparison to choose.

Arsenal's stadium opened 13 years before ours. It cost less than half as much as ours did and they had finished paying for it over half a decade before ours opened. Therefore, they are currently about 15-20 years ahead of us in terms of paying for and enjoying the financial benefits of a new stadium.
While they were paying for their new stadium, their transfer spending was massively impacted and they became a "selling club" with star players like Henry and Fabregas jumping ship, despite the increased matchday revenue. They went from regularly winning and challenging for major trophies to going 9 years without a trophy. After paying off their stadium, they went 6 consecutive seasons without qualifying for the CL.

So if Arsenal is the example we should be matching, for how a club should perform in similar (but in reality more favourable) circumstances to ours, you should expect:
- Kane & Son to leave.
- Our squad to become gradually weaker year-on-year for the medium term.
- A prolonged absence from the CL.
- Two or three domestic cup wins in circa 2030, but having a PL points tally closer to mid-table than to the title contenders.
- Qualifying for the CL for the first time in years in circa 2035-2040.

If we do better than the above during the next decade, we will have exceeded what Arsenal achieved. If we do similar or slightly worse than the above, it will be extremely disappointing, but pretty consistent with what should realistically be expected, if we are to use Arsenal as an example of what is "good" or "par" under the circumstances.

It seems Kane is going, but I remain optimistic that we will still do better than Arsenal did.

As I understand it from Swiss Ramble the stadium debt was paid by Arsenal’s owners KSE ro whom they now owe the money at a loser rate of interest.
.
Then there is this :

But Gary Jacob of The Times casts doubt on their finances, stating that Arsenal’s transfer debt – the Gunners owe £150m on recent deals according to company accounts, which do not cover the last two windows in which they spent close to £200m – could hamstring them.

It’s complicated

How much to convince him to stay?
300m? 600k a week a nice signing on bonus 5 year contract and another 100 on centre half's.
yeah he's off, isn't he. I still think we're in a strong position against Bayern because I can't see him joining them if he runs his contract down.

The team arrived back Mcflash, but other than Sanchez, there have been no other names of the players who can leave our bloated squad, with under 2 weeks to Brentford, that should at least be making progress behind the scenes, to bring money in towards transfer kitty, but it's like were stuck in limbo.
And that's where we need a proper DoF, someone who can focus on more than one deal at a time because it seems like Levy certainly can't.
It all started so brightly but has ground to a complete halt, which is really not good.

I want someone with a footballing brain and an ounce of ambition to take control, rather than have to put up with Levy's bloody games.

I can tbh. He clearly wants the guarantee of trophies and them and City are probably the best bet for that.

We're going to have a shambolic start to the season and barely any of it will be Ange's fault. Poor guy will get the flak for it as usual though. Won't be long till fans claim he's the problem just like Conte, Mourinho, Poch, AVB etc.
This most likely will happen because all teams under Ange have historically struggled a lot at start of his work there before fully adapting to his tactics and not becuase Kane situation lol

Don’t think it was ever an option for us tbh mate.

My concern is that going by the noises today, we may not be aiming greatly high in the event that Kane does leave. I know 'aiming high' can be subjective and from such small noises it's far from definitive, but I'm starting to feel like names like Vlahovic and Muani are a pipe dream.

It's a shame because I know star names and such don't equate to success, but I like to think that losing a star would encourage a mindset to bring another in.

Anyone think there’s a chance it HAS been agreed but there’s an agreement to keep shtum in order not to inflate our other business? (West Ham have been screwed in the market from the Rice sale)

Do you think other clubs don’t know we are about to ship H out and get cash ? They know we’re gonna have money (the selling clubs).

I can accept being forced to sell our star player because he wont renew his contract.

But I cannot accept the club just working on the details of that sale and not proactively lining up what we will be doing to improve going forward.

People may say "how do you know we are not?" Well we haven't made a single move incoming or outgoing for about a month now. There is so much that needs to be done with this squad and that's before we sell off our best player!! Rome wasn't built in a day and we are running out of days!
There have been no recent reports of us being close to doing any incoming business, almost like we've put a stop on everything until the Kane saga is finalized..... THIS is what is infuriating me. WHY?? Its the opposite of what we should be doing. We'll be in the same boat as West Ham later on, everyone knows they have a ton of money but they cant sign anyone as they are being quoted double for their targets.

I don't know if not having a Munn or Paratici in place is affecting our ability to get business done or if its just Levy being difficult with the details of every deal but this window is not heading in the right direction at all.

It’s a good job the lads have had an exceptional pre season up to now with 3/4 testing fixtures

I’d be a little worried for us otherwise

I can! He has probably got his heart set on them and would do a pre contract in jan. However Bayern need a new striker!!

I thought the manager search a couple of years ago was bad, but this is just like a nightmare that we cant wake up from: BM want to grind Levy down into accepting their offer, Levy doesn't want to budge, preseason seems to be going to hell in a handcart and round and round and round we go. I wish HK could find it in himself to say he isn't going anywhere, he wants to see his contract out. That would put an end to it.

I wonder how Kane feels knowing these clubs won't pay 100m for him but OK paying it for Rice or Grealish. I don't know how he can still want to go there to be honest. Yeah they only rate you at 85m, fuck them.
A year left on contract and he is much older.
