Feel like we're much more likely to get definitive information tonight if the deal's off.

If it's inconclusive and there are rumours of an extended deadline or other nonsense, that's probably us buying time to spend the Kane money and do a bit of panto before it's confirmed in a week or two.

With yesterday's news that we're signing a young striker who we may send back on Loan for 6 months and that we're also pulling the trigger on the slightly cheaper CB option... My guess is we think Kane's staying for another year and we're going to risk it. If it doesn't work out we've got our succession planning in for our striker, but best case scenario Kane re-signs and we can really push on.

It also puts us in a strong negotiating position against Bayern where we can point to the fact that we're prepared to lose Kane on a free next summer, we have some hope we can get him to re-sign anyway, so if they want him they have to make it worth our while. If they do pay up I reckon we'll get for Tapsoba and another young forward (e.g. Orban), then effectively write off this season as a rebuilding season. Either way I'll be happy, we're either building an exciting team for the future with some fun, pressure free, football to watch for a season or we keep the greatest player of my lifetime for at least one more year and give it one last shot with him to pick up a trophy and hopefully some CL money. And even in the latter scenario we're still building an exciting young team anyway.

Complete speculation but my read is that they agreed a fee in principal at the meeting on Monday.

Levy likely verbally agreed to accept on Friday to give him to time pull the trigger on the current deals lined up which he's now done this week (VDV, Veliz & Phillips). We're now just seeing BM putting pressure on to make sure it's closed out.

Suspect there will be one more to follow later in the window (probably coinciding with Hojbjerg's sale), but otherwise it would mostly line up with previous ITK from last week.

If we are spending the Kane fee in advance I'd have expected more movement than this though. Were the deal to go through today we still end up paying a premium on whatever 2nd CB we go for plus any further attacking signings.

If anything this makes me less inclined to think something has already been agreed.

Moving this here

I reckon he will stay, I don't think he really wants Bayern, not saying he wouldn't join them or like to play for them but I don't think Kane has his heart set on Bayern. Levy isn't ever going to allow himself to appeared pressured into doing anything and I think Bayern didn't anticipate the situation as it was and aren't going to be able to get thing's together for how they want it.

There's a small part of me that thinks Kane enjoys the comfort of Spurs really and set the deadline himself to force the issue without admitting he wants to stay and losing bargaining power.

Yeah I really don't buy that a deal has already been secretly agreed. We'd be spaffing way more money if that was the case.

When the Bale deal was secretly done it was like Supermarket Sweep with us spending money left right and centre. Not a couple youth players and an essential signing.

I am not going to call it, as I said I think last week. You cannot blame Daniel Levy here. This is not them using their muscles in the Bundesliga. They love to use German media to get their way. I cannot disclose too much
yep for all his faults and there are many you wouldn't want another person overseeing this than Daniel.

The deal is close to collapsing though unless they change their stance. As of now nothing changed in terms of what's been offered they have till midnight to provide what we want.

The deal gets further away from them if they don't shut up and pay up.

And yet there's still something in the air giving doubt to whether Daniel's resolve is to be tested.

If we knew the bid from Monday wasn't going be accepted under any circumstances then that would have filtered through by now - deadline or not.

Which midnight? Ours or theirs? Joe I can’t sleep. Is it too late to pull out of the Veliz deal?

It would be semi-amusing if we went through all of this charade, we finally accept Bayern's bid, only for Kane to reject the terms.

'Nah, you're alright, thanks though'.

The announcement of a deadline is counterproductive to Spurs bringing in other players using the Kane money with BM's understanding of the need to keep it on the downlow. so it is doubtful that a deal was struck earlier in the week. this is a game of chicken.

I don’t see Levy folding just because Bayern want him to. He’s been consistent in these situations, the buying club either pays what they want or they don’t get the player. Same thing happened with Berba, Modric and Bale

Yeah we would bite for 100m euro plus add ons. It will get to 100m pounds at least.
