Tbf it’s frustrating for us knobbers who sit here f5’in like our lives depends on it, but no club is going to keep fans constantly updated at every moment.

Ange will know what’s going on and no doubt when the team rock up tomorrow, they will also know what’s going on. That’s all that’s important.

Yes this is far from ideal, but it never is with us and it probably never is with most mega players moving teams, just we never read about it.

I guess we will know in the morning before the pre game conference with Ange.

Exactly. Some people are expecting immediate news as if it's the stock market where you get constant updates and there's no PR to any of it; it's just not realistic.

Amazing how the club can keep everything locked down when it wants to, isn't it?

It would be nice to think dead silence is because Kane and Levy are thrashing out the details of the reported extension, but I think the general tone in here is getting to me and I'm struggling to muster the optimism.

There is a feedback loop in this thread that seems to be bringing everyone down. Some of you are laser focused on what you might possibly lose rather than what you might gain. Sorry to go rah rah but this epic feeding frenzy is bringing others down. What are the outcomes?
  1. There's a chance he stays - the worry, angst and gnashing of teeth was for naught and some of your posts will look foolish.
  2. He goes to Bayern. We still have have Ange, Scott and FP and a whole bunch of money. They have an eye for a player and Ange's requirements for a player aren't at the same level as Jose or Antonio when it comes to amount. (100m doesn't buy much - if you are shopping in Harrods. That's not Ange's method). Plus, we have already picked up some diamonds. (Just look at what our B team did against Barca. They may not be at their best but the quality is still there.)
  3. He stays and we get another year of watching one of the greatest modern players in a system that will bring out the best in him. At the end of that year, there are two possibilities.
    1. He loves the project and decides to stay on for life
    2. He f***s off and goes to Man City or Real Madrid (i'd bet RM to keep his legacy). Are either of these certainties? Absolutely not. And if he did, Ange can still get a tune out of lower priced players. (And if you are really depressed, if the fans revolt enough, this could be the end of DL's tenure. Yes, unlikely, but if you are willing to hold on to low probability outcomes, this is one that you have to consider.)
F*** it. i want him to stay but if he leaves, there's a whole bunch of great things that can still come out of it. Sorry to get on the soapbox but I support Spurs and we already turned the corner with Ange. Now it's just a question of how fast we accelerate. (And yes, this is a post that makes the case for bringing the optimistic rating back). COYS

I don't think anyone has confirmed any of what you've written so it might be best not to cultivate what is an unsubstantiated rumour.

No one really knows what is happening other than Kane and probably Levy. Keep your powder dry and pray for a contract renewal announcement.
I’ll ‘cultivate’’ what the fuck I want, it’s a discussion forum 😂

it’s my opinion and take on the sequence of events, having read just about every post on this thread today.

thanks for the advice though 👍

Breaking news just on BBC News at 10 - Tottenham Hotspurs have agreed a fee for Harry Kane and now it’s up to him whether he goes or not

I agree with your entire excellent post apart from this small bit. Of course people are going to post and react emotionally; that's what being human means.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I for one wouldn't look at any post retrospectively and judge - with the benefit of 100% accurate hindsight - whether anyone's well-intentioned emotive post about how this situation made them feel was "foolish".

Of course we worry, of course we have hopes and dreams and highs and lows. If people always acted rationally they wouldn't be human.
