The only blessing of him leaving is being able to put the “one of our own” pretence behind us.

We gave him a chance in our academy when his boyhood club dumped him. We then gave him the opportunity to be a premier league striker when his performances out on loan were far from impressive. We made him very rich and gave him lots of security. We made managerial decisions to keep Him happy. And his influence and presence was enough to mean he played in our biggest ever game despite not being fit.

He repaid us with lots of goals and lots of great memories.

But he also spent the last three years trying to get himself out. He even went on strike

We were useful to him until we weren’t.

gutted to lose his talents. Not so much his character.

Nah

Feels worse now than last weekend when I also thought it was over, and felt quite cold and unmoved about it all. I’m just glad we've got this sorted in good time so it’s not proved to be a distraction and all our ducks are in a row re: outgoings and upgrades to the squad

On top of all the other reasons why this is bad, doing it on the eve of the season like this where we had just got excited about watching our team again, levy finds another way to undermine it all so that season starts with us all feeling shit

Yep. I’ve gone straight back to not giving a shit about the new season.

I feel for Ange.

Those players will cost far more than we're getting for Kane no?

Schuurs and Orban have been quoted for fees up to around 30 mill or so each - Eze would probably be the most expensive one on that list.

What frustrates me is that why are we back to the sell before we can buy model. We have a new stadium, money in the bank and we are only going to pony up the lane money “if he hasn’t already spent it 👀. Meanwhile Liverpool dropping £100m on Caicedo i suppose atleast they are all weakening our counterparts…
We've already signed players having only sold Harry Winks.

‘Ambition’ - we were in a European Cup final Harry and you did nothing. Can’t always be everyone else.

I know Levy’s fucked a lot of things but I’m mostly annoyed that this guy got unquestioned adoration, tried to leave, still had adoration, and now is forcing a move right before the season starts. I really don’t think he cares about us, and I feel sorry for the fans who believed he did.
Levy could have rejected the bid

no one forced him to accept it when he did

I don't hate the guy but I'm not re-writing history for him. He sorted deals with 2 different teams in the past few seasons, didn't turn up for training until his reputation started going to the dogs and was all the press talked about when he did a special interview with Gary Neville on sky sports.
Some of you lot baffle me.

He's our all time record goalscorer yet you talk about him like he's Rasiak or Adebayor.

Yes he pushed for a move 2 years ago, wouldn't you in his shoes? The lack of backing to the squad we all moan about, yet when a player does it he's a traitor or something?

If your work place promised upgrades to your office or whatever job you did, year after year and didn't deliver, even if the workplace was one where you started out as a kid, been their for 10+ years and still the company hasn't done what they said, another similar job by another company comes in and offers more money with everything you wanted from your current place, would you stay or go?

I'm not saying those things didn't happen but his tenure alone separates him from Modric, Bale and Berbatov. By the time he did the Neville interview Levy had already failed to capitalise on the good position we were in and failed Kane as a result. Bale and Modric left fairly quickly upon receiving good offers when we were good (and Bale's departure triggered the end of that for another three years-ish), and Berbatov wanted out almost immediately. We never really had a chance to fail any of those 3 before they hit the eject button.

I'm gutted but imagine how much harder it would have been to watch him go to another team in the PL. He'll be out of sight, out of mind in Germany. If he'd rocked up at City, United or Liverpool then for the rest of his career we'd have been subjected to daily reminders of all of the failures that led to this moment.
