They set a deadline of before the season starts.

That was agreed by ange and Harry from day one. It's not an unreasonable one.

Should we have excluded our all time record goalscorer over a potential deal? That seems harsh
That sounds a bit binary. There was surely a middle ground on his involvement given that a deal in principle was agreed (or at the very least was looking possible I just think he was given too many minutes and Scarlett - who we are now going to be relying on as backup to Richy for Sunday - should have got more. Would 50:50 have been so bad. It just seems a bit odd and so i was just curious what Ange would have to say about it. It's done now and not something to get overly fussed about. just hope Richy is fully fit and Dane isn't needed to do more than he's ready for.

I actually think the first 11 is pretty decent bar one more high quality CB. With Richy and Son we have CFs, plus Veliz and Scarlett as 3rd and 4th choice.

I would spend the Kane money on Tapsoba and Federico Redondo. Redondo will be world class, like his father and our midfield would be set for years. We can shift PEH on.

Off the top of my head, I was gutted when we lost Hoddle, Waddle, Gascoigne, VDV, Bale and now Kane

But each time we got over it and we'll get over this. For an assortment of reasons, all clubs lose their best from time to time.

At the end of the day, he wanted to go so selling him overseas was the best outcome. I mean, fucking hell, I wouldn't piss over Levy if he was on fire and I do blame him for allowing the club to go so far backwards that we lost one of our all time great players, but, having allowed it to get that far, he did as well as can be expected out of the shitty situation he created.

That's as far as it goes with him though. For the rest of it, he needs to be catapulted so far up Tottenham High Road that the first time his bony little arse bounces is outside Seven Sisters tube station.
Public transport got an upgrade over the summer I guess

The only reason kane played 75 minutes on Sunday was because richi was injured. Even still, he is still a spurs player until he's gone.

Worth noting that ‘planning without Kane’ and ‘planning in case Kane leaves’ are two seperate things

It was a throw away comment by WLB who said something along the lines of 'Project Kane'. He didn't expand on what it meant so people are making assumptions that it meant we would go ahead and buy a few new players immediately.
Yeah he mentioned it a number of times as I recall. I took it to mean we were lining things up to be done before Kane was announced. I could be wrong though.

Feel like Kane needs to win the Champions league for this move to be worth it tbh.

Totally get that Bayern are a big historic club, and they aren’t some minnow, but I feel like he goes there, wins all the domestic trophies with them and everyone will just shrug in a sort of “well yeah, it’s Bayern in Germany. You’re expected to win everything” way.

So I feel like winning the champions league is the only way he really gets truly elevated. Otherwise I just feel like his stature etc in the game basically stays the same but he’ll have some German trophies that no one but Bayern will rave about. The all time prem record and things that actually get spoken about remain unbroken.

Just feel personally that this is a really good move for Bayern, securing their outright dominance of a consistently one horse race…. But for Kane, it’s only really a true success if he gets a champions league out of it. As much as it shouldn’t be the case, I can’t see Kane ever winning a Ballon d’or because that award usually just given to the hip choice rather than undertaking any real analysis.

Weird one.

Honestly I wish people would be honest, so if he were to win the treble with Bayern; I could ask them so tell me, did that honestly make any difference to how you feel about him as a player? I doubt people would admit it changes little.

By most accounts, he’s chosen to leave now rather than on a free so the club gets something in return. Bayern seemingly the only club willing to pay (PSG perhaps too). If so, thats very classy. He should always get a hero’s welcome returning.

Call me a cynic but I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell that this factors into it whatsoever. He's leaving because he's too good to be playing for a tinpot team which is what we have been for 4 years (and which I believe and hope we are now moving away from).

I agree he deserve a hero's welcome but rather because he's our greatest ever goalscorer.

I agree mate, got nothing but love for Kane, and I understand why he's done what he's done. His reason's for leaving now, we'll never know, but such is life.
Saying that we're Tottenham, and his departure, and the money it brings, excites me greatly under Ange. We're going to be immense, I feel it.
Kane was always going to leave imo, pulling the ban aid off now, and getting that wedge...we're cooking

Remember what they say about form is temporary

I think the main worry about Son is his age. That, given his age, he's on the decline rather than it being just a period of bad form. Unlike someone like Vlahovic who has had an average couple of seasons with Juve but is much younger.

It may be more than that. WLB also indicated he went to get a shot at the Ballon d'or so if that is one of his ambitions, then to have a shot at it, he needs to go to a more visible club with a bigger reputation. If he fires them up to the top of the CL and scores like we think he can score in that league, then he may just be in the mix.

Even after we lost the likes of Modric, Berbatov, and Bale (plus the likes of Carrick and Keane) we’ve actually gone on to do better things in relatively short time, from being mid table, to qualifying for the CL to bring Cl finalists. Sure there were a couple of blips along the way, but as you say, players come and go, but tomorrow there’ll be another Hero.

I like Ange, I don’t know how it’s going to play out with him but I’m optimistic. Seems a good bloke to lead us into a new era.
