Ze German media will have a field day with that if it happens.
Phenomenal striker, he is world class but it’ll be interesting to see what happens at the end of the season when they do their voting for European player of the year and whether he finishes above his previous positions when he was with us as I think the players take a lot of notice of that.
I think he’s gone there thinking instant trophies and the reality now for him is that in his first season he might win bugger all.
All this time away from his family when he could have just stayed and won the same amount, he must have thought about banging in them four goals in pre season and thought what have I done, I know I would have.
He’ll get more votes regardless of it they win a trophy or not just by playing or Bayern and being back in the latter stages of the CL but if he doesn’t win anything it’ll be quite funny tbh.

Im also perfectly happy if he does win something but it’s looking likely as things stand.

The fact He played in 4 finals and had a total of 4 shots says everything.
other elite players can take the game by the scruff of the neck and make something happen.
Yea Kane did this for us in the league against Arse and Chelsea but when it really came to it he fell short just as much as the rest of the team.

Don’t get me wrong I loved him when he was here and he will always be a legend but that doesn’t hide the truth regarding his performances in the biggest games he’s played in.
Totally agree mate

Case in point is squad depth. We've improved on that front, though obviously there is more to do.
Arguably, we now have three players who can step up and play as a 9. While none of them are as good as Kane, we now have a lot more team flexibility than we used to. That also means players have less scope for 'hiding' in games because competition in some areas at least, is now greater and there is no longer a 'main man'.
Yes agreed, although Richarlison, since coming back from injury, is 9 goals in 9 games in the Premier League. Kane is 6 in 12 in the Farmers League Bundesliga

Maradona dragged a so-so Argentina team to the 1986 World Cup. That's part of the reason why he was undoubtedly elite. Then there's Steven Gerrard. How many of those trophies during his time would Liverpool have won without him?
This is true but also an illustration that you need luck as well. Maradona didn’t do much until the quarterfinals, and they might not have even made it out of that without one of the worst officiating errors ever. They didn’t face any elite opposition (that was very much a transitional German side) . So yeah Maradona siezed the moment in key games - the transcendent goal against England, he dominated the semi and set up the winner (after largely being marked out of the game by Matthaus) in the final but he needed luck to get those opportunities.

by contrast Kane has played in 4 finals. The first was against clearly superior opposition and both their goals were deflections. The second he wasn’t fit and shouldn’t have been picked. The third was against vastly superior opposition and we fired our coach the week before, and the 4th our manager completely shut up shop after Kane had helped give us an early lead. As samples go, it’s both small and has no luck in it whatsoever.

now I’m not claiming Harry Kane is in the same bracket as Maradona, he isn’t and only a handful of players of all time are. But guys like Rooney (mentioned in this thread as elite) were just in better positions than Kane. Kane biggest flaw for me is he keeps choosing to play with hopelessly past it coaches

On the whole Harry having to drag us or any team point, it's one of those things where obviously that's a great attribute to have to be a truly elite world class player... but so few players can do that. Especially strikers. It's part of why Messi and Ronaldo are so special and even then they're not really strikers in the same vein Kane is (Ronaldo more so in his later years).

I look at Haaland at the moment for example, and I don't think he's the type of player that will drag a team over the line or to the win but would still say he's world class and maybe even elite. He's in that class of players where he may not take the game by the scruff of its neck BUT if you only have two chances in a game you'd want him on the end of them. I think Kane is more that type of player. And at Bayern it seems like the struggle is getting him those one or two chances in big games.

As for Kane doing it in big games? Won't deny he didn't really do it in finals etc... but in the league going for top 4, VS. the big 6 (especially his games VS. Man City) he's put in world class performances and got us the win so he has it in him... just not every game (which I no player does).

Aside from all that though, the funny thing is going to be Kingsley Coman VS Harry Kane. Cause if I'm right Coman has won a trophy every year of his career whilst Kane obviously hasn't... so one of those streaks is ending this year.

Some of you are so bitter and now we'd have been better off without him!

Nobody has said we'd have been better off without him and I doubt you'll find a single person here that didn't want him to stay.
That's not to say that he didn't have his faults though and people can talk about those without being seen as being bitter.

The majority of the recent posts in here have come because Bayern are looking shite and it's looking likely that he's not going to win his trophy this year.
Plenty of us have found that quite amusing and the conversation has grown from there and from people replying with "it's not funny" and "he deserves trophies".

A lot of it is clearly tongue in cheek and obviously having a laugh, like the whole "he's cursed" thing.
There's a big difference between being bitter and taking the piss.

Must be great to be superior to everyone else on here. 🙄
Im sure there are plenty of times other have had a laugh at my posts too and Im sure if I looked back on my own posts I'd have a laugh at some of them as well

I may find a poster viewpoint amusing In one thread and in the next thread appreciate their insight. It's what I love about Spurs Community. A variety of opinions, some you can debate with, some you agree with, some you gain insight from and some you can read and have a chuckle about.

Its really not personal and it's not about feeling or thinking I am superior to any other poster. We just have different opinions, neither are necessary right or wrong but hopefully always open to change.

I appreciate the reasonable response.
I was gearing up for a bit of a row because I've had a long and shitty day but you've just pissed on my fire!

I also agree with everything you've said, damn you! 😁

Disagree. He has enough in him to play for more years and.milk it.
Saudis would jizz in their pants at prospect of him in the league.
By modern football standards he can play for another 10 years. Nailed on to go to MLS at some point, his profile is huge over there.

Harold's fuming.

This was always going to be the case at a bigger club.

Bigger egos who want the headlines so will pass up the opportunity to pass

Complete opposite to last season where players were asking Harry to get them out of shit.

Something he has to adapt to if he wants to win a trophy

Yep its ridiculous. Kane scored a shitload for us, assisted a shitload, could drop deep if we needed help, and the amount of headers he cleared from corners and off the line were increidble.

Fans are acting like we would win stuff if he wasnt around? They need to give their head a wobble.

When we needed to beef up our squad we were buying players like N'Koudou and Clintoj N'Jie, Vinnie etc

We were lucky to have him
