Haha one of my favourite sentiments from fans is "he has to win me over," or after he's been playing well, it's "Oh, he sure proved me wrong," as if they have a personal responsibility to the fan to do so. It's never, "Shit, you know what, I'm wrong and maybe my football jdugement isn't as good as I think it is."

Good little player. Nice engine and does his job. Not completely sure its him, i was a bit tipsy but did he fire a few passes at light speed to players 5 yds away? wish he/whoever wouldnt. nitpicking.

Are you sure you were only a little bit tipsy?

With the increased number of recent games where they’ve played together, Winks & Sissoko seem to have developed a good sense of understanding between them, which can only be good for them and for the club.

Isn't he sure proved me wrong, basically saying "I'm wrong" :cautious:

He was much better yesterday, hopefully he can continue to improve because that is the base level he really needs to perform at in CM.

Whoever said he passes like Modric, LOL. He isn't as good a passer as Modric I'm afraid.

He may one day show those types of passes, but he hasn't yet.

I'm pleased he is showing some drive from CM, which was missing from him so far this season.
Realize he is just now the age Modric was when he joined us.

My football judgement is top notch thanks very much.

I suspect both Winks and Sissoko are playing to strict orders to protect the defence. Winks has possibly been given a bit of licence to charge forward but only on very limited occasions. Sissoko seems to have been told to cover that righthand side and allow Tripps or whoever to bomb forward. In so doing we are missing out on his surging runs into the opposition penalty area.

And his runs are more dangerous than trippiers.

Realize he is just now the age Modric was when he joined us.

I've been banging on about this for ages, and Modric spent over a year looking weak, unable to keep up with the pace and playing 'neat' football at best, but game time and familiarity helped him improve and he became top class. And that was joining us with years of first team football and a starring role in an international tournament under his belt.

Winks is only getting better, and his ceiling may not be Modric level but Modric is only rivalled by Xavi and Iniesta in how good he became in that role. However, Winks is at the very least performing just as well as Modric did for us at the same age, and that's probably me being restrained so as not to over praise him.

The "He's not as good a passer as Modric, world footballer of the year, therefore what's the point" mentality is crazy.

I very much doubt he'll ever play for Real Madrid or Barcelona, and I doubt he'll ever be as good a player as Modric, but...

When he's played, he's arguably been our best player over the last 5 or 6 games. We've scraped by, not through attacking verve or skill, but through (1) dominating the midfield (2) Son's work rate and ability up front and (3) our defense.

In my opinion, he's been comfortably the most important part of (1) a big contributor in (3), and has enabled (2) to be effective by laying the platform.

We've had to get by without some vital players recently, and he's been, for me, the single most important player in that for about the last month.

And he loves the club, came through the youth team, and is getting better.

He's got some way to go (his passing in particular), but he's doing brilliantly

He basically holds the midfield all by himself because Sissoko constantly has to drift out right to protect Trippier because he can't defend. And he does a bloody good job of it.

Anyone digging him needs their head checking.

All I ask of a Spurs player in Winks' role is to pass the ball quickly and accurately and mostly in a forward direction. Check, check, and check. He will add other things to his game as he gains experience. I tend not to get carried away overhyping our young players but I have high hopes for Harry.

Incredible when you think of the massive money midfield signings this summer in Keita Fred Jorginho and Winks is streets ahead of any of them.

I'm amazed that the press/pundits have managed to hold themselves back from linking him with 'bigger' clubs. Shows how much they actually watch/understand of our games
