It'll be Rice IMO.
No it won’t.
It'll be Rice IMO.
Christ I bloody hope not. Most media hyped player I've ever seen.
So, from that Sunday Supplement video posted earlier we have evidence that his peers at the highest level who play with and against him talk about how good he is, and we know that three world class managers in Pochettino, Pep, and Jose, two of them among the greatest ever, have either spoken about how highly they rate him or have shown it. Yet we still have a few utter morons on here and on Twitter who don't rate him.
It's the same as it's always been. If you don't rate Harry Winks, the problem is not with Winks, it's with your understanding of the game. Instead of being quick to post about how he's not good enough, how about you step back, have some self-awareness, and consider why it is that people who have forgotten more about football than you will ever know think he's so good because if you actually understand football, you rate Harry Winks.
He should be givenDo any of you see Skippy as being the DM ? {leaving aside Winks playing that role for the moment}
some great analysis in this thread btw
The last few games he's impressed me more than he has for a while. Wether this is accurate or not I don't know but I feel he's picking up the ball and driving forward with it more often than before and generally trying to be more dynamic and have a much more positive affect on the team. Both in that regard and in the positive intent of his forward passing. Well done and three thumbs up from me.
It's funny that Tanganga is getting lorded as the second coming of King, after about four games and yet people still don't see what Winks brings to the game.
Yes, Japhet has looked good but Winks has been consistent for a good couple of years now. Plus, it appears that he's in the process of taking that next step up in quality that we were hoping for.
Poch stunted his progress IMO by making hold back and play as a pure DM. Jose has released him from that and allowed him to express himself more and we are therefore seeing a more creative Winks.The last few games he's impressed me more than he has for a while. Agreed. People acting like this is how he’s been playing all season are lying to themselves. Positive signs for sure, but let’s wait and see before crowning him again.The last few games he's impressed me more than he has for a while. We should be celebrating Winks as a home grown international. Really honest kid who always gives 100% and is technically very good. He’s at his best when the game goes up a notch and he responds. Then he becomes dynamic, and when he turns and wriggles away from opponents and accelerated deep into their half he lifts the whole team. I have been quite critical of him in the last 12 months, but on reflection I should probably be more critical of Poch and Jose. Winks needs the right partner, and it isn’t Dier or Sissoko! When he sits and has to be a holding player he is far from effective, often getting sucked in and his passing from very deep is not as progressive as it was when he first broke into the team (also due to a lack of movement in front of him!). He needs to play in a 3 (alongside Lo Celso and Gedson would be good) where he can help dominate the middle third.

Hi and welcome to this madhouse. Do you watch the Saints replay? I won’t disagree he doesn’t do it regularly but I remember one really good pass with his left foot right across from right wing to left. It helped open up their defence. Not sure but think it was in a build up to one of our goals.What really holds Harry Winks back, I think, is a technical deficiency - he doesn't have a clean strike of a football. His short-passing game is good but he can't switch play quickly enough. Without a cross-field pass in his locker, he will never rise to being a top central midfield (i.e. best 5 in the league). He's still a decent player with a great attitude and he's stepped up over the last couple of games.
I agree, we lack a crossfield passer in the team, but i think winks has good range. He needs to trust himself more.What really holds Harry Winks back, I think, is a technical deficiency - he doesn't have a clean strike of a football. I mean... this is actually one of his greatest strengths.
