OiOi is bang on to question where king was today. He is a major influence on our team as he is one of only a couple of very top drawer players we have. And this game is arguably more important than the league as it i far more likely to yield us a place in europe (we'd potentially only have to make the final) than the league will this year. This was the toughest possible game we could have had and our captain and best defender should have been playing if able.

I for one am really surprised if he was rested.

If you read the reports the ban is not to drink alcohol except after they win big games, so if this is the case King was listening to the rules, (after all their was a lot of Champaign in the dressing room after the Arsenal game)

A normal precaution with the knee after long-term injury, but his career hangs by a thread again as his hangover from tuesday night doesn't respond to treatment

The finest medical minds in the world are perplexed by how he managed to lose his shoes

 Repped sir.

It maybe irrelevant as to why King wasn't playing yesterday, but, towards the end of the Arsenal game on Tuesday night, King was looking like he was struggling, and was doing a lot of stretching when the ball was up Arsenals end of the field.

Of course, we will not know whether he is injured again, or just rested, until the team news and team is picked for Wednesday night.

While I can see the merits and reasons for resting him for this game, the FA cup would have been our easiest route to Europe IMO. We played well enough for King to have turned that loss into a win.

We are too far down in the league to qualify through that route. For us to qualify through that route we would have to start winning most of ours games while teams like Aston Villa, Everton Man City would have to start losing most of theirs, and I dont see that happening.

We wont qualify through the Carling cup even if we beat Chelsea , and so our only hope now would be to lift the Uefa cup.

So it is a balancing act whether or not he should have played, if fit of course.

Yea, I think the league is a lost cause now, we're a hell of a long way behind the likes of Blackburn, we should be gunning for the cups. Losing Chimbonda was one forced change, so 'resting' ledley shouldn't have been an option imo. We should have attemopted to keep as much of the same team as possible. The defence looked very disjointed.

Haven't read through the whole thread but I, am sorry, those on the first page who think Ledley is "fine" and was "rested" against Man Utd away in the FA Cup are seriously deluded. Do you honestly think we would write that game off?? Even if we did, why did we then play the rest of our first teamers? I feel we have to stop having any reliability on Ledley at all and plan without him. It's a shame because he is fantastic.
