You're quite right but I still think we can do considerably better than Dempsey & Siggy.

Well we have tried to bid for these kinds of players but always comes down to the same thing, ££££££

Chelsea had 3 special players playing for them today in Mata, Oscar and Hazard and they all could have been ours had it not been for Russian mafia money which is why we settle for 2nd best

Chelsea have about 3 special players playing for them in Mata, Oscar and Hazard and they all coup have been outs had it not been for Russian mafia money.

Which is why we settle for 2nd best, that's how it's always gonna be tbh.

It's not just that though: Hazard himself said he might have come to us if we'd made the Champions League. Hell, he might still have been tempted by the extra dosh at Chelsea but we'd have had more of a chance.

Come on now. There is some middle ground between Eden Hazard and Clint Fucking Dempsey.

I dont know why everyone seems so upset. We were beaten by a better side and there were many positives from the game as others have noted; Lennon looks more interested, Vert is the real deal, hell even the Hudd got a start.
There were at least 4 match winners in that team and it would take something special and alot of luck to win anyway.

I'm not getting this attitude at all.
Dempsey was obviously bought late because of the rapid culmination of the VDV speculation - who else would have been available at that late hour?
He is equally clearly just not suited to playing with Defoe as the lone striker, so we obviously aren't seeing the best of him. He was one of the top scorers in the EPL last season, has already scored the winner at OT for us, and, no doubt, would have scored more but for typically selfish shooting from Defoe when Demps is clearly running into a great position - as he did again today.
He obviously isn't seen as the long term solution.

Exactly.
I honestly believe some folk are missing a vital piece of the psychological jigsaw that they just cannot accept that sometimes, even when you play well, even when you are the better team, you are going to lose.

I don't feel upset with the performance at all. We scored at least. Now if we play like Arsenal's doing now against Norwich i would be very angry...

Oh, I don't know. But perhaps it might be an idea to get someone in early doors if you're planning to sell Rafa. But then I guess we did, Gylfi Fucking Sigursson!

This club focuses on resale value when it comes to replacement. Most clubs do. Sigursson fits the bill so don't moan.

See, I get that even less.
Sigurdsson has shown so much more on the brief occasions he has shared the pitch with Adebayor than he has with Defoe, that it is clear we haven't seen anywhere near his best. And, unlike Dempsey, he is relatively young - he is one of those you need to just be a bit more patient with.
As it is, at least we now remember what it is like for a corner taker to clear the first man again!

And, as UL said, it could be worse...we coulda played like the Goons (y)

After today I feel better about AVB but worse about the squad. If we have no injuries at all i think we could make Top-4 given our starting 11, but the back-up players dont look up to it at present IMHO. I guess im thinking about the likes of Hudd, Dempsey, Siggy, Livermore and Gallas who are good honest pros but not good enough to cut it at the very top.

No, how about do moan. Re-sale value is only one aspect of a transfer. Quality should always be the prime consideration. Buy good young players and their value should rise in proportion to their contribution to the team ala Modric. Buy average young players and they will turn in average performances and either retain their value or lose it completely ala Bentley & Jenas.

Just because a player is young doesn't mean he's a good signing. That's the argument of a retard.

When was this? In the game against Villa when we were two nil up against ten men? Even then I can't recall him doing anything particularly remarkable.

He may turn out to be a great player but right now I'm not seeing it.

I thought Siggy looked very useful today, I'm not 100% sure what Dempsey gives us though, he's clearly a decent player, i just don't know what he's for. Hopefully AVB will help him find his place, he looks a bit lost atm.

Personally i thought we played quite well, up until the 4th went in, i still thought we would nick an equaliser.

I agree with this, the one thing Dempsey does give us that no one else does is the follow up once a shot is taken. he is always there in case the keeper fumbles, or pushes it away, he is ace on that.

I don't think I ever want to see Dempsey where the famous white shirt again.

I've seen enough and I think he's shit.

Such a pointless signing. Get rid.

very negative, and spelling is shite. I'm sure he knows where his shirt is, I believe you do not want to see him wear it. But all in all he is not that bad, some poor decisions and some poor passing, but who doesn't go through that, and as mentioned earlier, he is the only one to get on the end of those loose balls in the box.

more personal opinion, I thought he looked uninterested when he first came on, not the same as his Villa cameo, i got the feeling from his body language he deserved a start, i hope his attitude at previous clubs doesn't pop up again at ours..

I thought that when looking at him on the bench and as he came on, but we did see him chase back tp the left back position to try and win the ball which i thought contradicted my earlier assesment.

Really? Is that your argument for Dempsey being in the team? Are you quite sure that Defoe, Adebayor or even Siggy couldn't perform this most difficult of tasks?

Apparently not, because Dempsey seems to be the only one who is ever there...pretty sure mentioned that earlier. no one else ever seems to run up on that loose ball, and i have only seen improvement since Dempsey has joined the squad. I understand that there are better players then them, but we signed them, so we need to make the best of it!

I have had serious issues with the Dempsey signing before todays game and today nothing had changed

I thought he would be a game changer and he wasn't to be honest and I think he would be better with Ade playing and feel no doubt he is a very good player

BUT I dont know what position he has been brought for and to be honest he is a stop gap signing otherwise we would of given a longer contract than 3 years and we know levy sell at the latest 1 year before that date so he is here for a max of 2 years.

I thought he was brought as a striker for back up to ade but I have doubts over that as it seems defoe would be staying in jan
If he moves in to midfield as a VDV replacement it feels even more stranger as I think in january we will try to sign a midfielder which would make sig and him back up
Today showed he cant be a winger if we play counter attacking football but I think he could if we was playing Ade and holding the ball but the issue I have with him on the wing is that Townsend has looked better than Dempsey imo

I expect him to turn in to a player that we will try to sell soon which is a shame really and he is a good player but it is clear not our first choice and today we played against 3 AM's that were our first choice for the last three windows (Oscar, Hazard and Mata)
