Weren't we linked with him in the summer?

I like the look of his finishing on that video. Very composed in front of goal.

I wouldn't object to it

We need to get LYP to have a word.

Here's the Bild article

http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/h...en-tottenham-jagt-toreaner-28044816.bild.html

Google translated of course

Heung Min Son (20) and Tolgay Arslan (22) are thick pals, were also in the training camp in Abu Dhabi almost inseparable. But perhaps the paths of the two HSV youngsters will soon separate.
For Tottenham chasing the HSV Toreaner!
Ironically, the former employer of HSV-star Rafael van der Vaart and sporting director Frank Arnesen has the name of Son at the top of the wish list.
The Spurs, who play a strong season and third in the Premier League to Champions League Course will once again stoking personnel. Sons more than six league matches to the rocket sprints into a frenzy.
In addition to the Hamburg Koreans the Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon to make (25) legs. The England international will have some competition on the right side of attack.
Also, Sonny with 1.84 meters almost 20 inches longer than Lennon (1.65 m), which gives advantages in the header.
"The Spurs always try the best talent from around the world to retain them. Why they are almost every year "top, says van der Vaart.
But Son (HSV contract until 2014) is not cheap for Tottenham. Around ten million euros, the north London must surely make loose.

Sounds like exactly the type of player we're after/should be after:

Son is known as a versatile attacker due to his ability to use both feet equally well; he can play either as a striker, attacking midfielder, or winger on either side. Son has confirmed this, saying, "I don't care where I play. The main thing is I'm in the game. I can play right, left, as a forward or behind it. What the coach says, I'll do. I don't have a favorite position. I'll be anywhere and always on the throttle." Other strengths of Son include his explosive pace, dribbling abilities, composure in front of goal, and hard-working nature.

Can safely say he dont go missing vs the bigger teams, 2 goals vs both Bayern and Dortmund!
But he looked a real talent in that vid, explosive and a good finish.

Young, talented and cheapish with a good chance to make the money back later, typical Levy deal with the added bonus of raising our profile in Asia.

I would be very happy to see him here, but I don't think Hamburg will sell in January.

Exciting player though.

Does sound like our sort of deal and looks like he could be a good addition with his range of positions. Would provide cover on the wings and hopefully competition up front (still prefer Damiao though)

I'm in the process of getting his match against Dortmund. I'll write up some notes from what I see after I get through it all.

I'm not trying to be so business-minded, but signing Heung-Min Son would bring a lot of marketing/money in from his region of the world. We’ve seen it before in that the Asian/Korean population have a strong tie to their athletes, and if he does well for us, he really could bring in a lot of revenue just from his popularity in Asia.

I actually really like this.

Mind you, Willian is my first choice, then Konoplyanka, but it's good (actually, great) to see us linked with players like this.

I posted this in the daily thread:

Well it's mandatory to do a certain amount of military service in South Korea. You'd hope that if they can cope with that they can cope with those things. Not sure whether they do their service at the beginning or end of their careers though.

Normally, I believe Korean footballers do their service either when they're still young i.e. 18 to 21, or when they're in their prime, around 28 or so. However, if you win an Olympic medal, the team are excused from service requirements. The team that reached the final four in the 2002 World Cup were exempt as well (Park Ji-Sung), and anyone who hasn't received a full middle school education is also exempt (Lee Chung-Yong). As part of the bronze-winning Olympics team, Son is exempt from military service (along with Ki Sung-Yong, Park Ju-Young, Ji Dong-Won). So he can play football in Europe until he's 40 if he likes.

Just from what I've seen (as much as most of you have, haven't seen any Hamburg matches this season but getting the Dortmund match at the moment), Son looks like a good fit for AVB's preferred 4-3-3 as he is most dangerous on his left foot, but he isn't far behind using his right. It's a bit similar to how he used Hulk on the right. Both options being open in regards to cutting in and taking shots on the favored left or drifting out and sending crosses in with the right. His apparently good acceleration and creativity looks like he could turn into a quality winger.

Son is actually naturally right-footed. He says he's practiced his left foot since he was a kid though (father is a football coach), so his left is equally as effective as his right.

Like others have already said, he can play on either flank, in the center as an AM or striker, is pacey and can shoot with both feet. He cuts in regularly, which suits AVB's preferred tactics and generally is a hard worker. Over the past few years, his consistency was a bit on and off, but that's to be expected for all young players. He's gotten far more consistent this season, and I think his goal tally already matches that of last season, if I'm not mistaken. Good player, one of the future stars of Korean football (one of very few, tbh), and most importantly, Shirt sales will soar if he signs for Spurs! I can guarantee you that! Plus you can expect some sort of sponsorship deal from a large Korean company (notice how QPR have partnered with Nexon now? Huge Korean game company, all thanks to Park Ji-Sung!) so yeah, there are definitely financial aspects to explore, if desired.

As a Korean footie fan, what can I say? Sign him up, Levy!

He looks pretty good, dual footed, quick, booming freekick in that vid off only 3 or so steps too, at only 20 there's plenty of upside. Don't know enough about him and couldn't confirm he's worth 10m in footballing terms but I'm sure the boffins will find enough value in merchandise sales to make it happen.

p.s If we get him can I put in a request..... A pre season stop in Korea on the way to Australia to play Central Coast and the two Sydney teams..... if you don't mind

Bild were the first to break the Holtby news, so this is looking good.

Sound like a Dempsey clone. I like.

On my game of FM Spurs signed him (I'm not them).

He constantly goes through goal droughts.

Make of that what you will.
