can anyone remember a case of one of our transfer targets failing through due to failure to obtain a work permit?

I find it hard to believe PSV would allow a multi-million pound asset to risk injury unless the transfer had been concluded, and the first instalment of the transfer fee safely deposited in Eindhoven. So, whilst I accept your good faith, I'd like to see a picture of him training or the official site to confirm the transfer & WP approval.

There's a player training with Stoke City at the moment who hasn't got a work permit, was on SSN earlier

And don't forget we let a certain Egyptian train with another club before the work permit was issued, why oh why didn't we make him wait

I picked up this Dutch geezer in my cab yesterday and took him to the airport who a PSV fan. We had a good old chin wag about football in general and he told me how great a signing this was for us. He reckoned Gomez had saved them 7 points or so last year in the league easily.

Just thought i'd share.

bobby convey and Qu "Kevin" Bo (sp) i think both failed to get work permits, if it wasnt Qu Bo, then it was someone else from out that way that we tried to get

There was something hooky about Rodrigo Defendi's Italian passport, which was why he was loaned out to Udinese and Roma after playing a couple of reserve games about us (a lot of Brazilians of Italian descent try that one on in order to get UK work permits, apparently).

Yeah that is definitely Gomes. Look how thin he looks. Certainly should be more agile than Robbo.

Ditto. It certainly does look like Gomes, and unless both Spurs & PSV were totally confident the deal will go through, there's no way he'd been allowed to train with us.

So, the Gomes deal is now effectively Done & Dusted!

It is definitely gomes, as RF has said he's training with us.

But until that work permit actually arrives at NI7, I assume it hasn't yet, I still won't officially relax :)

But it does just seem a formality -

Of course it's worth remembering what happened when Ghaly went training while waiting for a permit - that cost us the thick end of £3m quid!!!!!

Well I know Vickery has been adamant about the conditioning that Brasilian keepers go through, so we know he won't throw his toys out over a run

Good to see him in the training kit, if not the actual shirt!!

Wonder what other keepers are out there as training partner. Must be Alnwick I guess...

I’ve been wondering what robofan said was true, as I a new Immigration Officer at Heathrow (as in I’m 1 month in) I thought I would check it out. As long as he’s not getting paid he will probably be allowed to train as it will be noted that he has a application in process, and is high profile enough to let him slip through. Plus he will be loaded which is also good. I bet he got questioned the shit out of though.
In theory he should wait for the work permit, if he’s getting paid or not, as his intention is to work.
