Hoddle vs Waddle

Sorry, I posted this in general football earlier and had no replies... thought I'd try here as it's regarding two spurs legends (imo) and I have a bet on it. Not for a lot but it's a question that's caused a lot of debate in the pub tonight.

Just read an article on BBC about Beckham playing against Barton this weekend. At the end of the article Ginola says he doesn't think two English players have ever played against each other in the French league. Waddle and Hoddle were both in France late 80s early 90s, did they never play against each other? I've done a quick Google search but couldn't find any answers so thought I'd see if anyone on here knew.

hoddle was there from 87-91. Waddle from 89-92. That's at least two full seasons that they were in same league?

I dont know if you missed the point, but after the 89 season finished, Hoddle only played 3 times for Monaco again, he got injured and then he had his contract terminated because of this in 1990 and retired, he then signed for Chelsea reserves in 91 and had his contract terminated to become swindon player-manager

If Waddle was a Capri Hoddle was a Silver Shadow. Seriously he was an amazing player that made the players around him look better than they were. Was it 49 goals that Clive Allen scored when he had Hoddle Ardiles and Hazard setting up chance after chance?

Back on topic, there must have been other Englishmen playing in this league non?

Not only that but he epitomised Tottenham and supported the club too. My childhood hero, and the reason that me and others of my generation support the mighty Spurs.
