How on earth can you quantify the amount we will be able to spend? Do you have inside information to the budget (if any) there is available?? So so speculative thread!

There was an article that had done the figures and said we could spend around £400m and not break FFP rules. But obviously we don't have £400m to spend.

Transfer fees are paid over a period of time. So any money spent will be added onto our running costs.

I've no doubt we have money to spend but the nonsensical war chest talks are irrelevant. What we spend in January will be based on the availability of players at the quality we require, which is traditionally in short supply.

its not just about spending big money we have seen that with ndombele and lo celso its spending it on the right characters that are willing to work hard and have the quality as well many players are starting to run their contracts down so there are many opportunites to get good players on the cheap i would personally look over january and the summer to sign a hg gk like johnston as back up, de vrij and schlotterbeck as upgrades for dier and davies who should become squad players, a offensive rwb who is comfortable playing on the left like maehle, somebody to play alongside skipp pretty confident we will go for kessie on a free and probably go big for a goal threat like vlahovic. if we werent to get vlahovic my big target would be osimhen even though i dont see us getting him. if we were to go for a creative player and were willing to spend big nkunku should be the guy to go for.i would look to get rid of gollini doherty rodon lo celso ndombele dele and bergwijn to fund those signings

I have no idea how much the club has to spend. However, what is very obvious and clear, for Spurs to have any chance of finishing top 4, we need to improve our chance creation, whether that is via better central midfield, or better wingers or even better full backs. Improvement is required especially away from home games.

read on the athletic that many teams are going to be reluctant to give up players with the fear of Covid affecting squad availability. I’m sure there’ll be players available but might not be who we want etc.

we Need to spend, Arsenal, west ham and United are all pushing for forth, if we sign a couple of players, no Europe we should be aiming for third!

im not saying we will get third but we need to aim higher than forth!

Very possible. I posted that now we're out of the ECL it might be a good idea to send Gil out on a half a season loan. Someone pointed out that Covid affecting squads could provide opportunities. It's very likely correct.

Our best signings have typically been cheaper than our overly expensive ones. It's not how much do we have to spend but really how much do we actually need to spend.

How much do we need to spend for what? To properly compete for major honors like PL & CL? £250-300m probably. We’re 4 or 5 top quality players away in the XI. Top 4? Bare minimum £100m.

I don't see how you can put a figure on it. Liverpool certainly didn't spend over 200m to jump from where we are now to title contenders. Conte has never spent that kind of money to win titles either. Its about signing the right player for the system under a top coach like Conte. He is really our most important signing in a long long time. To have a world class coach will save us a lot. Poch had us contending without huge spend and Conte is next level. Granted the competition is tougher compared to 5 years ago so will also be tougher to do. If we still had Jose then we would have to spend more because he needs players who are already top class. With Conte we need players he can coach and take to the next level. We don't need to spend huge to do that, rather spend wisely. That's what Paratici is supposed to be good at.

Availability of the right players will determine how much we spend. January is never easy to get better players into the club and we should never compromise

not as much as is required.

Squad needs a big refresh.

The majority of this group of players have gotten our last three managers the sack.
