Interesting article from The Athletic ...
There was an article that had done the figures and said we could spend around £400m and not break FFP rules. But obviously we don't have £400m to spend. How on earth can you quantify the amount we will be able to spend? Do you have inside information to the budget (if any) there is available?? So so speculative thread!

Transfer fees are paid over a period of time. So any money spent will be added onto our running costs.
I've no doubt we have money to spend but the nonsensical war chest talks are irrelevant. What we spend in January will be based on the availability of players at the quality we require, which is traditionally in short supply.
Very possible. I posted that now we're out of the ECL it might be a good idea to send Gil out on a half a season loan. Someone pointed out that Covid affecting squads could provide opportunities. It's very likely correct.read on the athletic that many teams are going to be reluctant to give up players with the fear of Covid affecting squad availability. I’m sure there’ll be players available but might not be who we want etc.
Two pints of larger what...?Enough to buy Two pints of larger and a packet of crisps.
How much do we need to spend for what? To properly compete for major honors like PL & CL? £250-300m probably. We’re 4 or 5 top quality players away in the XI. Top 4? Bare minimum £100m.Our best signings have typically been cheaper than our overly expensive ones. It's not how much do we have to spend but really how much do we actually need to spend.
I don't see how you can put a figure on it. Liverpool certainly didn't spend over 200m to jump from where we are now to title contenders. Conte has never spent that kind of money to win titles either. Its about signing the right player for the system under a top coach like Conte. He is really our most important signing in a long long time. To have a world class coach will save us a lot. Poch had us contending without huge spend and Conte is next level. Granted the competition is tougher compared to 5 years ago so will also be tougher to do. If we still had Jose then we would have to spend more because he needs players who are already top class. With Conte we need players he can coach and take to the next level. We don't need to spend huge to do that, rather spend wisely. That's what Paratici is supposed to be good at.How much do we need to spend for what? To properly compete for major honors like PL & CL? £250-300m probably.
