Yes an interesting article, and some interesting responses. I'm just glad we are not in the situation we were last year, with the first game approaching away at Palace. With the "magnificent 7" unpacking their bags, with BAE welcoming them with "who are you?", and with Gareth Bale with his bag packed but still hanging around. Baldini was a hero, and AVB....well he had to win everything with that squad didn't he?
Poor AVB, eventually no Bale and all those newcomers to gel. So we now know the magnificent 7 were actually, well, really quite human, in that thrown together in a team game, as a group of individuals, they failed to reach the heights that were expected.
And I think that is the most important positive thing going into this season. The Spurs actually start to look like a team, with a system evolving, and not much to choose between players over the pitch, but with some slight differences in style which is to the coaches advantage. No one looks to be leaving (or those we deem as key players and thought might leave), and a couple more (quality) may arrive. Its a fairly youthful team as well.
For me, although I'd like a fit and reliable defender, I'm looking forward to the first game. I'm not at this point saying who I think should play. There isn't much between many of them, its getting the overall "Team" right. Who plays best with whom...I'll leave that to Poch!

This is actually interesting for a CHANGE.

Read the full article at Evening Standard

I was expecting to come back and say no it wasn't, but yes it was.

Lamela starting from the right, correct.
Townsend starting from the left, wrong, he will be a backup. Lennon will star left with Chadli probably taking over, Townsend as third choice but can also be third choice on the right behind Lamela and Holtby.

Rich, really appreciate you coming on here on.
I think you have everything spot on except for thinking that Townsend will start. He has never really pulled it off for Spurs. He has amazing ability and energy though lacking a footballers brain. I'm not sure if Poch can put something in there but for me Lennon is much more a team player and pre-season has shown that he might back to his best. Most of us here tend to agree that Townsend won't pass when attacking and his shooting and crossing accuracy are woeful. Apart from that I tend to agree with everything else. It looks like we will be signing the Argentianian defender Musacchio so Dawson will finally be let go.

How can you say Townsend's shooting is woeful, he scored 1 league goal from 59 shots, and that as a cross!

Dawson won't be the one going, Kaboul & Chiriches will be out the door first, can't play to short defenders poor in the air together at centre-back so can't have 2 in the squad, Chiriches certain to go therefore.

Because he has done a couple of good things against low level opposition?

I suspect also because he was a very highly rated Argentine player who Poch will be very familiar with over the last few years and his performances last season won't mean jack as far as tarnishing that goes. I believe he'll be given the run he needs to prove or disprove himself in the league, if he stays fit.
