Hutton is far superior to Corluka and should be re-installed with immediate effect

I was delighted when we eventually secured the protracted transfer of Alan Hutton from Rangers. I had seen play a pivitol role for Scotland in there failed Euro 2008 bid and also excel for Rangers in the CL. A League winners medal and a some sold displays in our poor end to the 07/08 campaign left me feeling the right back spor was sewn up for the next 5 years plus.

Right back is a key position, apart from the 'holding midfieder' the right sided defender has on average more touches of the ball than any other player, hence the player must be comfortable on the ball, have vision and posses a varied passing game. In my opinion Corluka while being a solid squad man is not an exponent of any of the attributes mentioned.

I understand there has been whispers of Hutton 'enjoying the London nightlife' to me this is immaterial if he is performing on the park, lets give him a chance to prove that he is outstanding full back in EPL.

IMO Corluka is better at all the above than Hutton. Hutton has more pace and can cross the ball better. If we could combine the two we'd have a great player!

I have a lot of doubts re corluka - and think that hutton might be the better of the two

but I think we should keep the same back 5 v west ham and see how it goes

failure to beat them tho and it's probably time to look again at the team depending on what happens in that game

Hutton has more pace than Corluka, and perhaps a tad more determination, but that's it. Corluka is a much better footabller, better passer, better dribbler, better positionally and has better reading of the game and decision making. Neither is a great crosser of the ball but at least when Corluka gets forward he takes so many people out of the game by dribbling past them that he usually has Lennon in space for a pass as a result. Hutton on the other hand will usually cross to the fans behind the goal. Corluka is calm and composed. Hutton is rash and jumpy in possession.

I like Hutton, but would not have him ahead of Charlie in a billion years.

Ideally I'd like to see Crluka in Central Defence and Hutton doing his Scottish fling up the flanks behind Lennon. Of course it pivots on King taking early retirement in some dark and dingy London night club.

Took me a while to be convinced about Corluka but I think he has been a very good signing. Comfotable on the ball, composed defending with strength and finds his passes.
His style is very relaxed, bit like berbatov in some ways (not comparing the two before anyone says). Hutton will need to work very hard to battle his way into the side, I think it will be pre season and maybe League Cup games next season to do that.

We could deploy Hutton in home games like Harry used Zokora a few times for the extra pace. Though having said that I don't believe Corluka is that slow, he just runs in a strange languid style, and looks a bit dopey.

I like Hutton, but Corluka can do everything Hutton can, and he is cool, calm and collected all the time. Hutton is a loose cannon who will pick up bookings and suspensions. Hutton would be a very good replacement if Corluka got injured though.

they are both very good players but if david bentley is to succeed then hutton must start as he pushes forward alot more and really pushes the left handside of the other team back i really like hutton but as lennon is currently an untouchable i am not sure whether hutton and lennon will form a good partnership. imo the hutton bentley partnership could be as good as the neville beckham partnership if bentley starts working a bit that is.

(I am starting to sound like HR!). Hutton is decent but Corluka is absolute quality and must be in the team.

 Typical Tottenham really. After we've combined Corluka & Hutton we can work on combining Lennon & Bentley.

Personally I prefer Corluka over Hutton. Hutton is probably better going forward but Corluka is better at defending, which is what we need more.

if we want attacking fullback - Hutton
if we want a more solid defender - Corluka

I dont think there is much to choise between both to be hounest

Why has no-one mentioned Chimbo in this thread

The Hutton of last season was better than Corluka has been this seasn, IMO, and after a slowish start Charlie has really won me over.

Hutton needs to concentrate on his football and get back to full fitness and for me I'd welcome him back. He offers more in attack than Charlie, wins more free kicks in and around the last third and is not a terrible defender.

Charlie's good, but for me Hutton offers maybe 1% more.

Clearly the title of this thread is bollocks. Most people see Corluka as better (which he is) and even those that rate Hutton admit he isn't clearly better.

Fuckingstupidthread.
