Hutton off the pace

Is it my imagination of was Hutton totally of the pace?

He was obviously at fault for their 4th, so much so that you'd almost expect an investigation.

But for the other goals he left his man go and allowed free headers and crosses to be made when the danger should have been snuffed out in the first place.

Gomes got a lot of stick for the first but Silvestre should have never gotten past Hutton unhindered in the first place.

Well he had little preseason, and no reserve matches before he was back in the squad, so its gonna take him a while to find sharpness.

Give him 5 more games and he will be somewhere near 100 per cent.

Way off the pace, but never the less a wquality player who hasn't had a pre-season.

Could be blamed for the majoirty of goals last night in all honesty.

2/3 and 4th.

never mind, the rest of the lads bailed him out.

Yep, needs games and then we will see what he is all about. At least he looked pissed off at his mistake.

He was out on his feet - that back pass was a consequence of his mind switching off - a consequence in itself of lack of match fitness.

Watch Bentley and Huddlestone after it's gone to 2-4. About five minutes left and they can barley summon up energy to respond to players going past them. They were out on their feet.

The tireless Jenas then goes on one of those special runs and curls it left footed past the second worst keeper on the park and all of a sudden the spring is back. Lennon getting the rebound off the post was because they all believed they could do it at 3-4. One last chance and they took it.

It will be something that will concern Redknapp though, that at eighty minutes of "in yer face" haranguing of their midfield, our own boys were dead beat. So much for Ramos' fitness strategies.

Huddlestone and Hutton's yellow cards were a result of careless tackling by tired bodies. We have to have our best players on the park which means getting Hutton back up to match sharpness and King playing the big league games.

Playing 3rd game in quick succession after long period out was clearly too much. He will need a bit of time to get back to top form, but time is in short supply with the situation we are in.

I thought at times everyone looked tired but that was of a crucial mistake that Hutton made.

I am confident that it's not the sort of mistake that we will see him making again, before his injury he was playing well and even since he's been good.

He made a couple of great challenges last night, as others have said I'm sure he just needs some time.

Thudd couldn't do anything about his booking IMO. Nothing to do with tiredness, but see where you're coming from with the rest.

Tired bodies was the price we paid for not having enough possession for large periods.

yeah super al clearly ain't up to match fitness yet and I thought it was a good move by harry to bring gunter on and he did well for us. Is it me or does Hutton look a bit bigger than last season? Sure he will get back to his best soon enough.

tbh I was more concerned about Bale, but hopefully that is down to match fitness and sharpness not being there.

being a full back's probably the position where a lack of match fitness is going to be most telling (the amount of running they have to do to cover both ends of the pitch is crazy). We have to give him support/time to get full fitness back. If we could keep 3 CB fit we could even put corluka back at RB for a few games to give Hutton a few reserve games to get the fitness back without giving us kittens

Was very poor last night but he seems the type of lad who can bounce back. He won't be happy with his own performance, he'll be his own worse critic. Chin up, Hutton.

My sentiments exactly Netty. Hutton seems very much to me to be the type of guy that needs to play the next game after a poor one. Some players need to be dropped, but in Huttons case I could see that being more detrimental than actually playing him. He'll go out against Liverpool with a point to prove and will not disappoint. He had a mare last night, at fault for the first, third and fourth goals, but the lads bailed him out, he'll want to repay them, and show us what he can really do.

seems to be about a stone heavier than last season!! too many deep fried mars bars when he was injured.
looked good last year so no doubt when he's fit he'll be back to that level

I think I must be one of the few who can't see that he was ever an upgrade on Chimbonda. Of course, he's a lot better than what he's shown since coming back from injury. Not surprised he's off the pace after being out for so long either of course.

As one mentioned, I'm more concerned about Bale, because he showed more promise last season than Hutton ever did and he's had a full pre-season behind him to boot. He looked like a superstar in the making last season, but so far this season he's been really poor and he was pretty awful most of pre-season as well.

Regards to Bale, my simple analysis would be he is a 19yo with no confidence atm. Look at Walnutt last season, no confidence, poor performances, this season he is turning into the player everyone expected him to be. Bale hit the ground running at Spurs but injuries have hampered that. I am sure he will turn the corner soon, as he played very well for Wales against Russia and reminded me just how good he can be.
