John Bostock believes that he may have made a mistake by leaving Crystal Palace at such a young age to join Spurs, TPC understands, while Didier Zokora’s spell at White Hart Lane is set to end soon.

TPC sources at the recent UEFA Under-17 European Championships revealed that Bostock is beginning to think that he may have been too hasty in leaving Selhurst Park where he could have become a regular in the first team already after impressing in fleeting appearances in the 2007/08 season.

The 17-year-old made three appearances for us in Europe this season, although Dean Parrett was given a starting place at Shakhtar Donetsk instead of him, and Spurs fans will be hoping Bostock’s Spurs career does not follow the path of Wayne Routledge and fizzle out before it has truly started.

Bostock is likely to ask for a loan move at some point next season to get more first-team experience under his belt although it is unclear whether Spurs will accept this demand. However, with rumours today that QPR want Danny Rose on loan to cover for Lee Cook’s injury, it could be that Spurs offer Bostock the chance to cross London again to gain some playing time, although that is no more than speculation at this time.

One player destined to leave Spurs closer to the present time is Zokora. There has been much talk in the media of a switch to Sevilla being on the cards and it appears as though Spurs representatives out in Spain are looking to tie up the deal and settle the compensation issue over Juande Ramos at the same time.

The £6-8m move could be sealed within the next week while Spurs are also hoping to negotiate moves for at least one Real Madrid player during their trip.

What's TPC? I wonder if Bostock really thought he'd get into the first team this season.

Dont believe it to be honest. His interview a while back was an insight to his personality and he seemed a grounded, well educated lad so if this is true and he thought he would be playing first team football by aged 16 then my impressions would have been well & truly wrong.

He may not be overly happy about seeing Parrett playing infront of him but we cannot forget that Parrett was touted as the new Gerrard by England youth team coaches.

Harry seems a lot keener than previous bosses/sporting directors to get our youngsters out on loan, so that could well happen.

I choose not to believe the rest of it though

I say sell zokora and get bostock and parrett to play more often and start embedding them in the team. They won't be any greater if they're not exposed to first team play week in out. Players like gerrard,Fabregas, Rooney and ronaldo started appearing in the first team at a young age. They never really looked the real deal in their earlier seasons but they improved due to the exposure. It's time we start playing the potentials we bought rather then sell them at a small profit to a mid table team only to see them rise in stock later on.

Fabregas and Rooney are exceptional talents. Most young players don't hit the ground running like they did, Bostock and Parrett have only played at youth level for us and it's a huge jump up to the premiership. I'm all for getting them involved but this has to be a gradual process so we don't put too much pressure on their shoulders. Selling squad players and using them as backup is a lot of responsiblilty and could be detrimental to their development. Maybe a loan to a lower league club would be a good first step/

What about Everton they have Rodwell, Gosling and to a lesser extent Baxter all having a good amount of minutess in the prem. They are always in squads on matchdays and Everton manage to b ed them in no problem, this is a prime opportunity to let youth come thru with european football and get rid of some of the sqaud players.

It does seem the right way in terms of player development I'll give you that. But looking at the number of players in the first team we've not seen a genuine first team from our youth team since Ledley King.

I don't think it's because of the players are not up to standard but as the youth player is loaned out we tend to then buy first team players that'll prevent the youth player to then develop at our club.

Bostock is a very grounded individual, very religious. It would have been obvious that he would have played loads for Palace this season as he played a bit for them last season so he knew that. Exceptional talent, his goal at the Valley against Charlton was unbelievable. If he doesn't go out on loan then i would expect him to feature in the CC next season

How about this for next season:

Home: Old bench
Away: Young bench

Lets start some of our youngsters at home more often, and bring out the old guard for the away games.
