One thing seems indubitable; if we'd signed a hitherto unknown 22 year old who'd got 5 goals and 2 assists in 16 la liga matches in the 2cnd half of 2010-11, and 5 goals in 15 international matches in that time, playing (presumably) as a wide rather than a central forward, we'd want to give him a decent chance. It would be a dream scenario if him and VdV could somehow end up presenting Lennon with pressure for his place.

Plus this should be Iago's season to push for minutes in a top league, having ripped up the Segunda liga last year.

I think he'll get his chance in the Europa league. Hopefully he can play well enough to challenge Lennon for his right wing slot. With sandro and Parker both fit surely we need to play 4231. With bale modric and vdv behind adebayor. Can afford to play walker as an attacking right back then with 2 holding mids. On paper it sounds great.

Let's be honest, he can't do any worse than Lennon currently, can he?! Lennon's been abysmal so far, and has been for a while now. What about this?

Gomes

Walker Gallas Dawson BAE

Sandro/Parker Modric

Gio VDV Bale

Adebayor

Taking into consideration these facts:

a) King is never fit
b) Lennon's been shit
c) Gomes will regain the Goalkeeper's shirt
d) a change of formation could be required

Couldn't agree more, at least Gio due to where he learnt his trade would have some intelligence. The game at OT Lennon on the byline VDV screaming for it Gio would have seen him I'm sure

Well with Lennon injured and a doubt for the next game, it would have to be between the new Juventus lad and Gio for a starting place on the right.

I remember seeing a quote from Harry last night saying that Gio has the chance to play his way into contention now.

don't hold your breath - he hasnt even got his usual no.17 squad number so unless he pulls something out the bag i wouldn't be so sure

Gio's been great in many teams but sadly enough not for us. I just hope he blooms soon. I have alot of faith in him and I believe that he's got the potential to be a great player and hopefully he'll be great in Spurs, not in Spain.

Doubt arry will give him the time of day. However i wouldn't mind seeing Bale attempt the VDV role or the role Ronaldo plays for Madrid, think he could be quite affective

Who was it that said everyone was given a clean slate this summer?

Change the formation for the benefit of the team and play him.
