Tottenham Hotspur's all-time record goalscorer has completed his record-breaking move to Bayern Munich. They are still fuming but deep down Spurs fans will know that his move is the right one - for all parties.

Really, Avb got sacked and we signed 5 dud players out of 7.

Eriksen, lamela at times and Nacer = 2 in my book

We need to buy wisely to bounce back

Most of the 7 was sold and reinvested though, which built Pochettino's team.
If we can land an Eriksen caliber in any position with the Kane money I think I'd be happy any way. It's not easy to find someone like that.

We bounced back and had more 'success' post Bale than with him. Better league positions and a CL final.

I don't believe there was any assertion that we bounced back immediately. It wouldn't be a "bounce back" without an initial decline.

Six years with Bale: 11th, 8th, 4th, 5th, 4th, 5th (average placing = 6.17)
Subsequent six years without Bale: 6th, 5th, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th (average placing = 3.83)

Even if you just take the last four seasons with Bale, when he was more established, our average finish was 4.5 and we only qualified for the CL once. In the first four seasons without Bale, we averaged 4th and qualified for the CL twice. After two slightly disappointing seasons, a change of manager and a squad rebuild, we achieved our three best ever PL finishes in consecutive seasons. I think there are plenty of positive signs that we can do something similar post-Kane...particularly as we've already recruited the refreshing new manager and some of the "duds" we signed in the past (Bissouma, Lo Celso, Emerson) all look ideal for our new system, which gives our rebuild a significant head-start.
