I think we'll get 4th...possibly 3rd

Especially with Ade and Diarra.

I'm watching the Arsenal and Liverpool game, and can't help but think "we're better than them!".

Liverpool have Suarez and Gerrard to come back, and I can see all their new signings playing their hearts out with Gerrard there to impress. But they still look sluggish and not very troubling going forward. Also think we dodged a bullet with Adam, because if he was there we wouldn't be getting Diarra (please!) and would feel like we need to play him, when really he isn't an upgrade on anything we have.

If Arsenal lose Nasri, they lose everything that worries me about them. I don't think Van Persie will play 100% with Fabregas and him gone, and I think Van Persie, and others, will start to think about jumping ship. I think we've also got a huge opportunity to stop them improving by buying Cahill before them. Thinking strategically, they'll be forced to think of a lesser alternative (Samba), and we would have improved faster than them (aim of the game).

3rd becomes a realistic position for us IF we do get Ade, Diarra and Cahill. But also if we manage to get a Rossi or Hulk. If Rossi or Hulk could become our "Rooney" or "Tevez" (that player you just can't drop), then we'd have real quality throughout the entire team, and I can see us finishing above Chelsea. If that then happens, and we can continue to improve next summer and show ambition, would players like Modric want to leave??

I think Levy has these ambitions, but we'll find out within the next two weeks exactly what the thinking is. Even if a 60 - 70 million outlay didn't get us Champ League next year, we'd have to sell Modric/Bale/VDV (I'd image 2 of the 3) anyway, and we'd also have some quality players 1 year into their Spurs career to keep us top 6 material.

Hopefully there's some good bits of logic in there!

We have to beat Wolves, Bolton, Everton etc first.

Many "ifs" in there, but you are right. I know it was just Hearts, but we actually played with ruthlessness and more directness something which we will need to finish off the small teams (something which separates the likes of United to us). Diarra will help shield our defence and to be honest I see Sandro becoming an all round complete midfielder rather than just a defensive midfielder- him and Diarra will form a formidable partnership regardless of whether Luka leaves us or not. Looking forward to this season a lot!

Adebayor is the key.

Even Adebayor and Defoe looks a good partnership

worst Arsenal squad I have seen in over 20 years, they are well and truly facked. Manager will retire by Xmas and they'l start rebuilding process.

Something is wrong there, no idea what it is but I hope they don't know either.

Arse will be lucky to end up top 10

we havent even played a league game yet, we could get thrashed by untied, then city and opinions will quickly swing round to how shit we are.

such predictions are probably best left until the transfer window is closed at the very least

I'd say Arsenal today have been about as bad as Hearts, and Liverpool have exactly bin great - 2 goals, both offside and one o.g.
I think we can go to Old Trafford on Monday and win - we're coming off the back of a fantastic away performance, get a couple of inspiring signings in beforehand (I know they won't be playing, but they could lift our tails, and force a few of our current squad to play for their places) and I think we could capitalise against a new look ManU who everyone has down as favourites.
With Chelsea also beginning anew and City unpredictable, I think we have a real chance of being in the mix if we get a good start to the season (which won't by any means be easy...).

That's the worst Arsenal team in my living memory they looked knackered...Liverpool too didn't look all that, thank god we didn't buy Adams, sorry not in the same league as Huddlestone.

I really don't want to jump the gun with Spurs, against ManU we'll have a true assessment.

My only worry is Wenger finally opening his eyes and then going out and spending £60m on three or four new players to improve the quality of his first team.

The way it's going though, Wenger doesn't really seem to care. And with PSG loaded, he's probably already working on his resignation to take over a club that he can dominate the league with.

Did you also know that they approached Lucho Gonzalez and he turned them down because of what's going on now. No one wants to join the sinking ship!

even if they go out and splash 200 mill now, its too late to have real impact this season. They are going to struggle

Arsenal had no creativity or penetration. It looks as though Wenger has lost the dressing room there.

Completely agree. Fabregas for them was irreplaceable, especially short-term. And short-term replacements is exactly what they need.

I also agree with people who say "it's too early to judge", and if we do get spanked by Man U, then City, heads may drop and we could lose that hunger we so often have at the beginning of a season.

But with quality additions, that hunger will permeate through the squad and everyone will start believing in the tottenham "project". Players of our quality with hunger and belief is a dangerous thing for everyone else.

Ade will help us (if he joins) beat the Wolves, Stoke's etc. But to beat the Man U's and City's, we need players like Rossi as well.

Sounds like most of us are on the same wavelength - lets hope Levy and Redknapp are as well (I think they are)

It's certainly there for us to take if we want it enough, which I'm not entirely convinced we do - I'm sure the next 11 days will answer that question.

liverpool and arsenal didnt look amazing but then liverpool did bring some of their better players on at the end. unfortunately arsenal will improve after today since the injury will force them to sign one maybe two top cb's plus frimpong looks like the kind of player they need, spikey. but if they insist on playing one guy in the penalty area with no support then good luck to them with that..
