While our rivals have been busy strengthening their first 11s, we've faffed around signing and tapping up midtable journeymen squad players in positions where we are already strong - Pienaar, Friedel, Neville, Adam and Parker.

Today Levy needs to man-up and save us from another decade of mid-table osbscurity. Today Levy needs to fire our small time manager and bring in a big time one - Ancelotti.

Ancelotti was the guy who had the real hard-on for Modric at Chelsea anyway. He'd be a statement of intent and signal we are serious about competing with the big boys.

Ancelotti and a war chest for 3 top calibre strikers will turn Modric's head back the right way.

I think Levy finally gave up on Redknapp and started taking some desperate independent action. Redknapp was sat doing interviews for Talksport about what triffic lad Phil Neville was, while Levy was flying all over Spain trying to salvage something.

I've been going to WHL since 1988, so I've seen this situation a number of times before (Waddle, Gascoigne, Stewart, Ruddock, Barmby, Sheringham, Campbell, Carrick, Berbatov).

dan makes a valid point regarding Rednapp i think BUT I'm not sure sacking Rednapp though will do anyone much good though right now. the time it'd take to organise the new regime would knock us back vital weeks in preparation. With our fixture list looking so tricky anything less than a good start will seal the fate for lots of our best players and inhibit our chances of signing good enough replacements.

I guess if we dig in, Modric will look sad but by the first game he'll be in the starting 11 and will play well. If not he'll be out the side and then we'll either cope and play well or we'll fail to cope lose too many games and Rednapp will be sacked on results and then we'll get Ancelloti anyway.
