Its the NLD we are two up at the Em and Bale goes clear through the Scum defence if he squares it it must be 3-0,but he shoots and narrowly misses and they go on to win 5-2.
If only he would have squared it,
What a difference to our season and club future that would have made.
There would have been no way back for the scum.
Their season would have ended and it would have been wholesale carnage there.
We would have finished third and qualified for the CL.
Arry would have been a life time hero.
Modric might not have left and I doubt that VDV would have either.
We would'nt have bought Dempsey.
I wouldnt be so depressed as I am now knowing that sucess is so close yet always seems to be sofar away at the same time.

No way back ? Like when we were 3-0 up against ManU at half time ?
Arsenal scored 5. The only thing there was no way back from would have been if we were 6-0 up.

The same thing happened at ManC away. With the score at 2-2 in the dying minutes Bale and Defoe were two on one and managed to fuck up a great match winning chance between them. That was a big moment in our season right there.

Sorry mate, but the season is full of 'if only's'. Some of them we could directly influence and some of them we couldn't. That cyclist away at Stoke for example...;)

My biggest 'if only' is the CL final as it happens, but granted it should not have mattered before then. Still between what happened then, this summer's transfer dealings and a the results so far has seen a little spark inside of me go a little.

Oh, the self pity. Woe is me/is us....

Indeed. I genuinely think if Defoe had scored then we would have challenged for the title. I''m not saying we would have won, but the confidence and momentum we would have took from that game + City surrendering a 2-0 lead when they were comfortably winning every home game would have had a massive impact on both teams. I think we would have pulled to within two points of first at time.

Seems like a lifetime ago with the way things are going at the moment.

Turning point was beating Norwich 2-0 away from home. Played with Bale given free reign, and absolutely smashed them...and also gave him the idea he could play as a number 10.

"He plays on the left..."

If only we'd won more than 4 of our last ten games...

exactly...drawing to Stoke, and losing to Norwich at home...losing to QPR and only drawing with Villa away is what did it. 2 points from 12 available from those fixtures still makes my stomach turn.

If only Foy didn't cost us 3 points against Stoke or if only Defoe's legs were a bit longer. You'll kill yourself thinking like this. :D Just move on.

What if:

25 February 2012 Arsenal A 5–2 Saha 4', Adebayor 34' (pen.) 60,106 3rd
4 March 2012 Manchester United H 1–3 Defoe 88' 36,034 3rd
10 March 2012 Everton A 1–0 – 34,992 3rd
21 March 2012 Stoke City H 1–1 Van der Vaart 90+2' 35,172 4th
24 March 2012 Chelsea A 0–0 – 41,830 4th
1 April 2012 Swansea City H 3–1 Van der Vaart 19', Adebayor 73', 86' 36,174 4th
7 April 2012 Sunderland A 0–0 – 39,335 4th
9 April 2012 Norwich City H 1–2 Defoe 33' 36,126 4th
21 April 2012 Queens Park Rangers A 1–0 – 18,021 5th
29 April 2012 Blackburn Rovers H 2–0 Van der Vaart 22', Walker 75' 35,798 4th
2 May 2012 Bolton Wanderers A 1–4 Modrić 37', Van der Vaart 60', Adebayor 62', 69' 22,349 4th
6 May 2012 Aston Villa A 1–1 Adebayor 62' (pen.) 36,008 4th
13 May 2012 Fulham H 2–0 Adebayor 2', Defoe 63' 36,256 4th

We didnt:
Lose to Everton (draw)
Draw with Stoke (win)
Draw with Sunderland (win)
Lose to Norwich (win)
Lose to QPR (win)
Draw with Villa (win)

On paper, we should have got more from of those games than we did. In brackets are my "what if we got what we should have"
13 points more than we eventually got, would have left us with 83 points. 6 off Manchester United in 2nd and 13 above Arsenal.

What if.
