If the season started today and everyones fit, what would you're starting line-up and formation be to play Boro?

I'd go for:

Also, which player do you think we most need to upgrade before the window shuts? I'd probably say Jeans. I think we need a better, all round midfielder to partner Modric. That also gives us the option to move Modric to the left and play 2 strong CMs. I'm also really glad Huddlestone resigned as I think he has a big future.

Wouldn't start Dos Santos and Bale down the left just yet. Think we will see Dos Santos as a front 3.

Back four, keeper and fron two pick themselves no? Therefore, my midfield would be a little out there but;

I think this would give us more than enough in midfield and allowing Lennon to roam would offset some of the predicatability that stifled him last season. He is terrific going through the middle at times and links up with Berbatov and Keane very well. As for width, have we ever had better attacking full backs than Hutton and Bale. With Modric's ability to find space, keep the ball and pass accurately and penetratively I think this fluid and adaptable system could work well.

I like it!

EDIT: Thinking about it though, it would probably work better with Zokora in the middle holding, with Modric and JJ getting up and down either side of him.

The width would be provided by the full-backs with Huddlestone practically playing as a centre-back when they push on.
Our most technically competent starting eleven with the obvious exception of Zokora who would be needed for his mobility.

Its interesting how everyones midfields vary. I wonder if in 2 months time we will have made such signings that everyone has the same first choice midfield.

For instance if we signed Capel, Bentley and a quality CM like Veloso or Palombo would the majority have this 1st choice mid?

I like him as a player and his attitude but I can't see Malbranque being a regular starter next season. But for a player to come on, give his all and add a goal threat- definitely want to keep him.
