If you want the best chance to win the CL, or play in CL football every season then the answer is undoubtedly yes.

It's basically impossible to answer as a fan, and I suspect there are very few players who actually play for a club they supported at the level we support the club (particularly these days when players join clubs at ludicrously young ages thus preventing them from having the time to support a club).

I don't think it's unreasonable that players treat it like a job, because it is a job, and if any of us were offered more money by a more prestigious company in our respective lines of work, I think we'd all think seriously about taking up that offer.

And whereas anyone else might have a bit more of an eye on the long term (i.e. how long is that company actually going to want me), footballers have a short career and therefore are much less likely to look at the long-term and will look for the big money move instead of the long-term move.

Don't get me wrong I'm not showing any sympathy to footballers. The amount of money they receive is fucking ludicrous, and I find it incomprehensible that they may feel that 100k a week isn't enough so off they trot to get that extra 20k.

But basically the answer is always going to be different from a die hard Spurs fan than it is from a person just doing their job.

Being a Spurs fan, I've was felt that if i was a professional footballer my main aim would be to play for Tottenham and stay there for as long as possible, i couldn't give a flying fuck if Madrid or anyone came calling and offering me £200k a week, I'd much rather stay at my beloved Spurs for £5k a week.

If I was supremely talented, I could definitely see myself being tempted to go and play for Madrid or Barca for a couple of years. The chance to leave a legacy at a club like Barca or Madrid, the two elite clubs of world football, is something I'd find hard resist.

I'd just have a clause inserted in my contract that I can return to Spurs after a couple of seasons.

You bitches would welcome me back with open arms.

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if actually playing for Spurs ruined the club for you, particulaly if the fans get on your back.

Yes but only to sabotge them like Woodgate did.

I still love the Roberto Carlos line that they were going to have to start marking him

I would stay at Spurs until I was 24 and then sign a deal with Madrid for a huge transfer........I would then leave them after 2 years and for another huge transfer, sign a 3 year contract with Bayern.I would stay there until my contract was finished.
At the age of 29 I would return to Spurs and play for nothing until my career was finished.

Depends on the stature of the clubs at that point. If we are taking it as both at current level, then I personally want to play at the highest level I possibly can and test myself against the very best and also to win. Nothing wrong with having ambition, money doesn't come into it.

Hopefully though whilst at Spurs the club could push on and do this themselves. If not then I'd make my name for the club, leave and fulfil ambitions(making sure the club get the best transfer fee possible) and then come back in latter part of my career. My ambitions wouldn't be done there though... I'd then like to go on and manage, or even run, the club.

What self respecting Spurs fan would.

The only situation where I'd consider it is if we were relegated and they put me on £1000 per week. Even then, I probably wouldn't

We're all Spurs fans so we're biased.

Every footballer would leave for Madrid.

Having the chance to play for Real Madrid is a once in a lifetime opportunity, if there was legitimate interest then you'd genuinely consider it.

And of course, having the chance to play for Tottenham is more of your run of the mill, grey Thursday kind of thing.

Spurs every time. No question. Playing for the team you support, will -IMO- give you the greatest sense of achievement/joy in life, which is more important than money. Let's not forget, Spurs pay good wages. Even if you were not the highest earner, you still make more money in a couple of years than most people earn in a lifetime.
It depends on the type of character you are or want to be. Being loyal, working hard to achieve what you want in your career and not opting for completely shallow instant success that's not been earnt, might appeal to some, but is devoid of character, which will be carried through life!

Living your dream vs some extra money?

I've never dreamt of playing for Madrid. I've definitely dreamt about playing for Tottenham. No contest for me.

No, no I wouldn't. Not if I was playing for us. If I was playing for another team, then yes, of course I would.

I'd genuinely consider it...

...for about half a second...

...then tell them to go fuck themselves.

Shocking that nearly 40% have voted yes. You fucking slags.

I wonder how many local lads have said they would or is it SC's foreign contingent? yes, I include people north of Watford in that

Well, sure I'll vote to stay at Spurs, but I'm a wheezing 36 year old smoker with absolutely zero sporting talent of any type. Claiming loyalty isn't exactly hard for me, whereas trying to put myself in the mindset of a world class footballer is quite frankly fucking impossible.
