So... If a firm tries to monitor your browsing habits, install malware, keyloggers, ghost-ware or rootkits, they are dangerous and we must fear the access they want to our personal and private data.

If the government tries to do it, it's in our best interests for national security.

Am i close?

I've got such a cobbled together setup i've totally lost track of how many anti-everythings i'm running; from ad-blockers to cookie and tracker hunters, if i can't figure out a way through them then i'm reasonably sure the sort of 13 year old Canadian who'll be trawling at that level won't either.

Oh, and anyone who goes to a site which provides illegal content and then chooses to let it install a plugin, software, client or anything at all completely deserves the damage it will do. You are either not educated enough in the environment to be there, or you have ignored what common sense tells you, either way, you're to blame.

In an effort to be flexible, and an acknowledgement that people want to watch sport away from their sofas, Sky Sports launched Now TV, which allows online access. But at £6.99 for a day pass, it's unlikely to tempt certain types of people away from pirated sources..

Do people really want to watch sport away from their sofas? Where do they want to go, the much more comfortable office chair? And they make it sound like people only watch illegal streams because Sky Sports didn't offer online viewing. But is this the change from Sky? They've now introduced online viewing, or is it just that they now have a day pass?

I have a rather good set up via my KODI box that allows me to watch streams, but before that I used to just type in Tottenham v whoever stream and a link would appear. Never ever in my life did I download a plug in to watch it so what are they talking about?

there was a report recently that said kids now spend more time watching stuff online than watching TV - http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/35410127

so I can see a progressive change away from conventional viewing in the years to come, the likes of Sky, BT and Virgin Media will need to cater for this

currently the bill payer still watches normal TV on the sofa, but that will change

I'm always having trouble with BBC's live stream, yesterday I had to watch an American version of the Chelsea game

I won't deactivate Adblock and can find streams that don't demand it and I never download anything to watch them. In fact, I haven't had a problem finding streams at all to date. I simply can't afford the charges demanded by the likes of Sky and BT, etc.

I've not just watched football streams, but also tennis and cricket for free. You just have to be patient and search for the right ones.

BTW, I have SKY Sports News on in the background today so I can check the transfers on a regular basis.

Last steam I tried wouldn't play unless Adblock was deactivated
how computer savvy are you? I can detail a way for you to watch 'totally legal' ways to watch clear streams without concern for ad-block bockers and without concern for any malicious sh*t that could harm digital privacy and security. Additionally, it entails no degree of trust that I am a benevolent actor.

There are multiple ways and I know we can't place links here but I don't want to go against site policy by explaining this. So if this runs afoul of that I will remove this asap.

1) get yourself a linux distribution (free) and run it off a USB drive. This way you can click away to your hearts content and any bad stuff would be of no consequence...as long as you don't mount any partitions from your laptop. If you get the right distro all multimedia programs will be already there (eg linuxmint)

2) Similarly you can load a linux distro in a virtual machine (eg virtualbox, VMware, boxes, etc) and run it 'sandboxed' thereby protecting your computer

3) And lastly you can partition your hard drive and load said linux distro on a small 10GB partition and run it native from there. This one is a little more complicated but it is the one I use mostly.

Additonally use uBlock Origin or uMatrix instead of adblock or adblock plus. They both use 'Easylist' (amongst other user defined lists) but uBlock/Matrix is a better product with a smaller resource footprint and faster. A VPN wouldn't hurt either.

Will leave it at that unless there's further interest.

The fact that people pay money to watch streams nowadays tells you how far behind football is.

Most fans would pay good money to watch their teams each week legally but they have to resort to doing so illegally. Surely that's what's wrong?

Thanks. Can post more if peeps are interested. Another important point is finding the stream behind the stream. When you do that the stream is typically much higher quality as most sites restream from these.

Unfortunately I often have to do this and I live in a place where ALL PL games are streamed live (and on-demand replay). But due to adobe flash authentication issues with linux and my security software I often have to search out other 'totally legal' means.

I also watch 3-4 games at once from around the european leagues and this can tax my computer using the heavy official sites as all the extra stuff their pages load take up resources. So typically I watch 1 game in HD and others from 'totally legal' sites in lower resolution.

If I could pay £10 a month to watch Prem games with foreign commentary I would. Thta is a choice we should have in the name of competition.

I will not pay the ridiculous fees for Sky when a large part of the money is paid to their pundits who lets face it, are awful for the most part.

As I haven't been given this choice, which should be part of fair competition, I watch streams. My laptop is still working fine so really not bothered.

You do know theres many a good stream of the sky and bt coverage dont you? Worst case for me is the US streams which generally have ex uk footballers...Havent watched foriegn commentary in years!

Yes I know that. Not sure I'm following your point.
