That's probably because all we've done is qualify. Let's face it, that was a piss easy group and if we can't win that then we've got problems.

England has plenty of problems even winning the group. Centre of the defence is so slow and unsure. Gerrard, Lampard and even Rooney are past their best. Welbeck and Sturridge can only mess up the good work of Townsend.

But apart from that we're ok, yeah? (y)

Baines MOTM by a mile
Not sure about that, Błaszczykowski took him apart with ease at times. Saying that I don't know who I would have given it to. Towsend was by a country mile first half but the second he was quite underwhelming and really run out of steam before he got subbed. He doesn't have Bale's stamina as much as he wishes he did.... At least for the moment anyhow.

Rooney was MOTM, without a shadow of a doubt. Baines was good, and Townsend was excellent in the first half.

Did anyone see any of the Belgium V Wales game? I see Chadli started and was subbed on the 58th minute for Hazard.

I also thought Welbeck worked his nuts off.

England's problems are in central midfield though, they don't have enough energy and tenacity in there, and of course they struggle to keep possession well enough for long periods.

For the most part though, its a big improvement and I actually think the energy and purpose that young Andros plays with has rubbed off on others. A lot more exciting than recent years that's for sue.

A refreshing change, fair play to Woy for going with him but I bet Gary Neville pushed the old codger into it.

Agreed. I thought Rooney was came to life watching what Andros did and started to go back to his old positive, take the game by the scruff of the neck ways. He was very influential and with Gerrard were different class to the rest of the team.

Welbeck has plenty of energy and forward drive and was everywhere but him and Sturridge lack the first touch needed at the top level.

I saw some of the under 21 game and England have some exciting attacking footballers. It would be good to see many of them in the WC squad. They will not get much beyond the group stage but they should use this tournament to get experience for the younger players. Time to leave Lamps, Carrick, Milner and co behind to build for the future

Not really into the England football team but I am English and I know full well that when the WC starts I will buy a wall chart for my son and watch the games with friends and family. My 8 year old son is showing a bit more interest so I hope this tournament can finally get him properly into football.

It may sound like a negative mentality but going into the tournament thinking we aren't going to do that well is a good mindset, just enjoy the football and hope the Spurs players out there with other nations do well.

England won't be first seeds for the group stage. Top seeds will be Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Germany, Italy and three of Uruguay, Colombia, Belgium, Holland, Portugal and Croatia.

I'll be happy if we avoid Brazil, Spain and Germany. And Holland. And Belgium. And Italy (I can't sit through a repeat of that Euro's match).

If they hadn't won their group, they'd have avoided every team.:)
