It's been a huge plus for us to be creating several clear cut chances over the last few games, notably Newcastle, Man Utd, on Wednesday and today.

I'm starting to see signs of progress and Andre is beginning to realise that we need that bit of extra width in the side to stretch the opposition.

Lennon has been excellent on the right recently and Andros showed that he's more suited to the left in his 25 minute spell. We opened them up with ease and i'm sure if Soldado was on the field he'd have taken at least one of those opportunities.

In that second half we played some lovely stuff and it's been good to see an improvement in our football. We're finally looking dangerous in attack and i'm starting to believe that we can score again. I know Fulham and Sunderland are not the best teams but if we keep playing like that then there's no reason to suggest we can't finish in the top 4. Possibly, just possibly, we are starting to click.

Bring on the Scousers.

Just need to approach games the way we're finishing them rather than wasting the first half hour passing sideways

We need another striker in january if we are to progress imo soldado and defoe at the moment are not cutting it.

Also, I'd say we need some depth tbh. At least a FB coming in this Jan. Probably a CB would make me happy, and this is all about me after all. But yeah, the Ade thing is never happening. Add a striker.

Otherwise I hope Andros' cameo today was the first nudge AVB has received in reverting to at least one conventional winger in front of an attacking FB. We need width from one side of the pitch at least to help create space and set up chances. preferably both but he might not be ready to part with one inverted winger in front of a FB asked to play as an utterly ineffectual WB completely.

not too impressed to be honest, still not too sure about the manager. paper and cracks come to mind

WOW. So we've won 3 and drawn one since getting trounced by Man City. At what point does that turn from luck to getting results through an effective philosophy?

Exactly this - improvements are clear to be seen. Anyone not open to admitting that is seeing what they want to see.

No. Presumably you didn't watch the game today. It wasn't a lucky result. We dominated and created plenty of chances. The players (mainly Defoe) didn't finish them off, but that isn't AVB's fault.

The minute a guy who BREAST BEAST likes personally is appointed manager/HC. That's when!

The improvements I've seen relate to the space we've allowed ourselves to create attacks; space through increased use of width on the flanks, and space through relaxing our high press, which gives us the room to build attacks from all over the park. Everyone is benefiting from this, and players like Dembele revel in it. When Rose returns, and gives us both defensive security and attacking threat on the left; and Eriksen comes back, we're going to look like another team! Haven't even mentioned Lamela yet. Our squad will come in to serious play as the season progresses, and winning just helps strengthen morale in the squad. We're looking in good shape!

People continue to underate Lennon but its no coincidence for me that we are looking a bit more potent in attack the last few weeks since he's been back in the team.

I know! AVB had to change it though...and he did. I actually like this learning process; not one-way, of a team having to learn a coach's vision and methods, but the coach also learning about the talents in his team, and how to adapt his own vision to allow them to succeed.

First half dog shite

Second half big improvements

We are making more chances, even when we arent winning in games and the other sits and defends

That said if Defoe starts the next match he needs his head checked.

Also these improvements are coming at a rate to keep him in a job not at a rate to say he is doing a good job

I'm highly encouraged after that second half today. Finally we created plenty of real clear cut chances. It was a joy watching Dembele attack the box from the wide left position for the goal as well. I'm utterly convinced he would be breaking into the box for fun every week if he would get forward more. He needs to keep doing this.

I'm still bewildered why we start so slowly though. Its cost us, Newcastle for example. But lets keep it positive because everything about that second half was positive and if we can keep that going the goals will start to flow, for sure.

They always have. We'd be a few points south of where we are now without him.
