He is seeing a specialist to determine the extent of the ankle ligament damage, therefore they do not know how long he will be out for.
Although by seeing a specialist it would suggest it is quite a severe injury, which would mean a lengthy period of time. The recovery time could be between 6 weeks to 6 months because everybody responds differently.
It is a potentially nasty injury, as in many cases it never really fully heals, which makes the person susceptible to the same injury. The ankle is also vulnerable to injury anyway because it has to take your weight all the time.
In the long-term Ramsey's injury may actually be preferable because your bone normally strengthens after a break, whereas ligaments do not and possibly weaken.

When one brake their leg the way Ramsey did, they tore ligaments as well. although it's not those connecting the ankle bones but probably some of the ligaments of the calves muscles.
The Hudd should have never tried to kick that ball the way he did if a defender was that up close and willing to tackle.
