They would be in direct competition for a place in the side. So nothing like comparing Shearer to Ginola.
Don't make me hurt you.
Direct competition like Lampard & Gerrard then. very different in style though!

This is the basis of the arsenal great young player myth, Wenger doesn't take young players and make them good, he takes the best youngsters and coaches them in the arsenal system.
Ramsey is a terrific player but that has nothing whatever to do with arsenal it's to do with Cardiff City and the young Welsh setup.
Arsene Wenger plucks already recognised young players and because they play to a system in the youth team they fit easily into the first team playing a simple pass and move game which makes them look even more gifted for their age.
I am not being detrimental to the arseanl I am just trying to explain why, in my opinion, their youngsters always look better than other team's and why in the end their eventual quality doesn't quite match their early potential.
Hmmm then I think of Ryan Giggs and England's left side for his entire career.....
If only!
Adam456, I would have Essien every time just look at chelsea since hs injury and watch them when he returns, I think he is a great player in the true sense of the word.
just so you know Giggs could never have played for England. He is Welsh. The only reason he was eligible to play for England schoolboys is that he went to school in England.
Just an Aaron Ramsay related question, didn't want to start a seperate thread, and didn't know where to post it:
In the game with the Spammers, yesterday, after he scored he went into the crowd. Was he booked? I didn't see him being booked, and the commentators didn't mention it (but it was ITV and, as we all know, their coverage is crap). Defoe was booked for going into the crowd after he scored (again, against the Spammers). So, was he booked or not?
If we'd signed him he'd be on loan to some random league 1 side by now.
Ha, I actually Tweeted the very same questions straight after. I didn't get an answer either. Intriguing - can't be one rule for some and another for others
The commentary WAS dire though
EDIT: According to Beeb website, he wasn't, which is a bit rich: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/fa_cup/8433917.stm
don't think Defoe did get booked for going into the crowd
I believe he got booked for arguing that one of the spam players shoulda got booked for kicking Lennon I think it was
Comolli got it right then. As he is decidedly average.
