We have only failed to score in 4 out of 34 league games this season. That is very very impressive especially seeing as very often we have scored a good number of goals i.e 3+. So this lack of creativity in the midfield can't be as bad as we think. We should appreciate how lucky we are to support a team who play such attacking exciting football. If only we could defend as well.....

How many of those goals were from Berbatov and Keane though? And quite alot of them they've created themselves rather than getting on to brilliant midfield play.

Thats correct! Also as the Lukespur7 said about the defence, it also starts with the midfield (defensive)

This about sums it up for me too!
As for the defence, well, the staggering amount of goals conceded this season says it all!
But as already stated, defensive duties should start in/with midfield.

Well said legend, always interesting as an example to see how hard Rooney works to get the ball back, top sides work hard 1 to 11, I'm not sure if our front men do the same often enough.

1. Lennon creates spaces with his directness of play. When next you watch lennon play, watch how many players automatically are surrounding him.

2. Theirs not many better passing midfielders than Tom Huddlestone.

3. Keane and Berbatov have a creative quality to there partnership.

The main problem this and last season i have not doubt about it, is the GOAL KEEPER. His lack of confidence and POOR judgment has spread through the team like a wild fire.

If we can get a top quality goal keeper it would improve the team by at least 30% IMO.

yea true defence isn't just down to the defenders you must defend as a team. That includes strikers and midfielders, our lack of height in midfield doesn't always help us. Also amazing about the home game stat, really hope we can keep that up.

Go and tell me where the creativity is in midfield? as i strugle to think of really any apart from hudd who may be creative. Berabtov is probably the main reason for the goals not the midfield

Lennon creates very little this season, yes he has pace, but hasnt been putting in the final balls, no point sprinting down the wing just to stick a cross on the defenders head or over everyone :shrug:

Hudd i can agree with, and bearbtov and Keane shoudlnt be looked upon to create just about everything, the mdifield should be doing a fair chunk of that or else it pulls the forwards away from goals which is where they should be around, if we had this i can see us having alot higher goal tally!
