Is Adam Smith Good Enough For Spurs?

Hi All

In our latest Spurs-related article we've taken a look at Bournemouth right-back Adam Smith to see whether he is good enough for return to Tottenham.

With Walker's future up in the air there have been reposts that Spurs will promote Trippier to first-choice right-back and move for Smith to be back-up.

As ever, any feedback is appreciated.

Cheers,
Ryan

3-4 years ago, he was deemed not good enough or Walker was seen as the better prospect or a combination of both. From what I've seen, he looks OK, but not outstanding.. Walker has undoubtedly been the best right fullback come wing back for the last two season, so replacing him is no easy feat.

Why don't we look at replacements for all players the media have linked as leaving. That would give Football whispers a lot to write about. How about look for ways we could improve the team instead?

Is he good enough, can only mean is he as good as Walker? The answer to that is no and thus replacing Walker with him would make the team weaker (while making one of our rivals stronger).

Same quality as Nathanial Clyne, not as good as Kyle Walker.
He adds depth if we think Trippier can replace Walker as first choice.

You are aware that they are part funding SC now so rob dosnt have to pay it all?

Moot point, it would take the wealth of nations to sign him.

That might go over a few heads if anybody bothers to read the thread

Speaking of which. Who runs that website that means it is allowed to post such poor quality click bait on a daily basis. Gives the daily mail a run for its money

Not really click bait though is it?

I suggested this a while back. Only one assist fewer than Walker despite having nowhere near the same level of options to create for, better natural touch and technique than both our right backs and pace to burn. I think he'd be a far shrewder signing than people realise, and his defensive failings are no worse than either Walker or Trippier.

My first choice is still to not change anything, but if we lost Walker then Smith would be a fantastic option. I take quite an interest in our ex players so have kept a close eye on him and I really like him.

And the OP asks for feedback does he not?

I get that they are helping fund the site but most of these threads are pointless. I read through the first 4-5 pages of the Josh King one the other day, and there wasn't one single reference to the article. All it was was a debate on whether or not he would be good enough, which was already happening in the Summer transfer window thread.

I know they are trying to generate traffic for their site but, tbh I'd be surprised if many people that comment in the threads actually read the articles at all. From my POV if they want to bring people to their site they need to be coming up with something new that makes them want to read more. Not something that is already being debated to death in the forum they are advertising their content in.

He has matured into a very decent player - the trouble is at 26 he's unlikely to want to come and be Trippier's back-up. If he was 3/4 years younger then he'd be a very good option.

Can selling your first choice full back, then buying a back up for the back up make you stronger?

Indeed, but again the OP clearly asks for feedback, so you can't complain if that feedback is not to your liking. There was nothing wrong with the post you quoted because it is constructive imo.
