maybe we could open this thread up to a slightly wider debate and ask if Adebayor is actually any better than Crouch

yes by far. he does all the dirty work. modric didnt have to worry about defensive duties because parker was postioned where he was supposed to be

Of course Parker is a completely different level to O'Hara. He's come in and improved our side and whilst maybe we could have added a few extra players for extra depth our squad didn't really need that much tinkering in the window. The addition of Parker and Adebayor was exactly what was needed and we've gone about improving our side without resorting to spending ridiculous amounts of money.

I posted this on the ratings thread after I had described Parker as 'limited'

I think that that would be a fair definition of 'limited'
Your words 'jack of all trades; master of none'

He is one paced; one footed; cannot turn on the ball; rarely makes an incisive pass; his tackling is Palaciosotic at times.

Does have good positional discipline and plays the short return pass well.
He is a decent stop gap and for a first game did well yesterday.

A journeyman footballer which makes him 'limited' to me.
He may indeed be what we need for the time being with the transfer of Palacios and the unavailability of Sandro and until we can sign a genuinely quality player.

The Footballer of the Year claim by the 'Football Writers is a joke award. Most of us spend the year bemoaning the rubbish that they write.

England mainly by default and only just.
That doessn't make O'Hara better though I agree,

But he is more mobile, has a better shot, delivers a good dead ball
and has more 'vision' about the game.

He also does not have a side parting.

I think it's you that's limited. Parker gave us a platform yesterday which allowed our midfield to control the game.

SAid it all before. There'll be a lto of humble pie on here regards Parker. His workrate, drive, determination are something we dnt often see in a Spurs jersey.

Early days, but Parker and Modric, complimented by Sandro on his return, could be the best midfield partnership we have had for many a year.

I was sceptical after watching WHAM vs Cardiff on the opening day where he looked slow and poor on the ball... After watching him in the flesh against liverpool his positioning and tanacity are exactly what we need... he was also linking up well with Luka and Ade

Everyone around me yesterday agreed that the signings we have made have been first rate ...

He has been a great signing... Made me laugh yesterday when the commentators claimed that Liverppol struggled due to bedding in four new players when we were doing exactly the same with Friedel, Walker, Parker and Adebayor

I think we can safely say Parker is on form, and that is won't be long before Bayern are in for him.

Adam, Downing and Henderson's claim to fame is that they are used to fighting relegation battles, not challenging for titles. It's nothing to do with bedding in, more like the're out of their depth and shown to be inferior.

These guy cost a combined £50m, which if you consider Parker at £5m, Bale at £5m, Krancjar at £2m and Modric at £16m, illustrates what a terrible waste of money commited by the bin dippers. A waste, but rather amusing.

Na, most posters on here are too stubborn to hold their hands up and admit they were wrong so they will just look for feeble confirmations of their original snap judgement opinion in the face of all evidence and logical thinking.

Just like those who determined that Modric was a waste of money after only a couple of games and continued with their crazy opinion long after Modric was showing himself to be top draw.

Just like those who decided Harry was a mickey mouse manager only capable of success with small clubs fighting for PL survival and they continued and still do to enforce that opinion in spite of the fact he got us CL football and a 5th place with a CL quarter final.

Just like those knee jerkers after the Man U and Man City results continued to preach doom and gloom after the wolves game

I have no doubt that many of the Parker haters will continue to repeat the same opinions of him regardless of how well he continues to play for us.

So what you are trying to say then is that Commolli is being shown up again for what he really is? ;-)

He appears to like paying over inflated prices for sub standard british players.

He had a history here in some way with the signings of Bentley and Hutton.
