Mate what are you on about. You can tear one of your cruciate ligaments and walk off on it. Behave. You can have grade 1, 2 or 3. 3 being the worst. If its a grade 1, he's out for a few weeks but he certainly isn't going to ask for gas (@agrdavidsfan) and he's not going to ask to be killed.

I have ruptured my cruciate ligament 3 X and trust me I have also shattered my ankle and the pain is something absolute out of this world when you do a cruciate.

You can do your medial ligament and walk it off easily and be out for around 2 months.

In all likely hood I think Jan may have torn a bit of cartilage by the way he was walking

I did my cruciate, admittedly I walked off the pitch, even tried to come back on and play on with some strapping round it, however I knew very well at the time something serious was wrong. Tried to comeback twice playing on it, before eventually getting proper medical advice, ultimately a full reconstruction.
In the days of modern medicine and footballing medical services, I don't for one second believe Vertonghen has gone off with something that serious and still so vague/casual in his tweet. Maybe some cartilage or minor ligament damage, but cannot see it being ACL rupture.

I have done my cruciate ligament 3 times if it was that

He wouldn't have gone off like he did let me tell you gas and air job.

Maybe cartilage or something but not his cruciate as he would be needing gas and air

I've done mine twice, no gas and air needed, just had a breather and tried to run it off, and came back on...both times...however the knee just kept collapsing. But Im hard...unless ive stubbed my toe then I hop around and scream like a bitch. Sometimes adrenalin covers up the serious pain.

Who's going to be our other centre back for the bench if he is out for Norwich?

Assuming Wimmer stays in the team while Jan is out and Dier stays at DM, I'd hope CCV will get a bit of bench time. He doesn't actually need to be played in case of another injury because as people have said, Dier can drop back, but it gives us the option to leave Dier where he is and give another youngster some first team experience, maybe agianst weaker teams or if we are winning.

Just saw the incident again. He definitely twists his knee- looks pretty bad to be honest.

Watching it again and I agree there's a twist there!

Only saving grace is he grabs the inside right of his knee!

Which is normally indicates cartilage or MCL which is 6-8 weeks max for a grade 3 tear

No point worrying until we get confirmation, could be anything.

I didn't think it looked that bad. He fell akwardly when Wickham elbowed him and his studs got caught in the turf. He was clearly not quite with it after that so hard to fully assess hhiw bad his knee was. Don't think anything ruptured, slightly strained ligaments at worst.

I've ruptured mine twice now. I went down in agony the first time but got up after a bit and tried to play on - so I think it's actually situational.

The second time I did need help off the pitch but still managed to drive myself to hospital.

3 times is very unlucky. Fingers crossed that the last op was a success.

First time I done it like wise I got up and went to play on was in agony for it to giveaway seconds later

Second time I done it after surgery I couldnt move due to the pain and shock!

Unbelievably the third time I done it I was kind of used to the pain just picked myself up hobbled over to the hospital and asked them for pain relief haha

Thankfully since the last op a year ago I have been fine and slowly starting to get my confidence back not going to ever let it stop me playing

It's fortunate we've the cup next as he would have probably sat that out anyway.

Last time he was injured 2 seasons ago it took him ages to get back to his best. Let's hope it's not a bad one.

come on thats not really a good indictar. When i did mine the second time the knee twisted outwards tore the meniscus on the outside and twisted back inside tearing meniscus on the inside, whilst rupturing the acl. the pain was mostly on the inside too. the thing is we just never know. I saw john terry injure his knee a season or two ago and and i was so sure he had done his acl but it turns out he hadnt. Unllike Owen (when he crawled off) and Theo Walcott when he put his fingers up to us...both seemed pretty mild but turned out to be acls.
