This is the beauty of playing guys like Wimmer in the cup. He came on, did well and probably didn't feel out of place cos he played in the week, whereas if he hadn't, he'd most likely have been overly nervous.

Hope it isn't too serious. They've been amazing together.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino admits Jan Vertonghen was in some pain after coming off with an injury against Crystal Palace.

The defender was involved in a clash with Eagles striker Connor Wickham and shortly went off clutching his head and knee.

Pochettino admits he will test the defender tomorrow but it doesn’t look as if the Belgian was concussed.

“Jan, we will assess tomorrow,” Pochettino said.

“It looks painful but we will asses it tomorrow and see how he is. “I don’t want to make any judgement now.

“We will wait to look at the incident too. He is feeling not so good, his knee also. He didn’t speak to me about the incident yet.”

Knee. Seemed to happen when Wickham elbowed him in the face so maybe he twisted it as he fell?

Wickham should get a retrospective ban for that. Blatantly on purpose. He was a thug all day and I don't understand how he managed to not even pick up a yellow today...

Due to the ref taken no action (fuck knows why not mind) the FA can ?? - Sure if a yellow card is/was given then nothing else can be done ??

Him and the bearded **** Ledley. Should've had 2 yellows. Ref was poor with those decisions today. Wickham will def get a ban. Blatant as anything.

I think he was concussed and MP was pretty slow to pick up on that and get him off.
Limping off gives him a little more flexibility on when he returns but the rules are there for a reason,
and he should take his time coming back.

That's a big blow for us but you cant expect a CB pairing to play all 38 games together over a season, we're not that lucky.

Bit of luck that it's Colchester on the weekend but then we're playing again midweek anyway so it's only a few extra games. Wimmer has looked solid and Dier could slot in so we shouldn't be too worried..

Who's going to be our other centre back for the bench if he is out for Norwich?

He'll either slot Dier back there and keep Wimmer on the bench or put Wimmer at CB and risk not having a recognised CB on the bench I think. If we start with Wimmer and Alderweireld there's always the option for Dier to slot into CB if needed. Also with Davies at LB or on the bench he can always come in and cover, I believe he's played at CB a few times for Wales..

I just can't imagine Fazio has any game time left at Spurs', we've finally got a solid defence and we don't need reminding of how it used to be with him getting game time.

lucky the ref never saw it, from what I could see he elbowed Jan, but could of worked out with us playing against 10 men but 2-1 down due to a pen for the shirt pulling
