The Spurs recruitment supremo has also been keeping an eye on the progress of 24-year-old Watford winger Ismaila Sarr, who has nine goal involvements (six goals and three assists) from his 19 Championship matches so far this season. The Senegal international scored for his country as they reached the last 16 of the World Cup this month.

With 18 months left on his current deal, 10 goals and eight assists from 50 Premier League games in a struggling Hornets side and the versatility to play anywhere across the front three, Sarr could be another option Spurs look at in the next month.

Odd that we would look at him now after the summer.

Good player but very odd link.

Actually think he’d be a great signing. Wouldn't cost loads, got all the attributes to be a top tier forward and wouldn’t come in expecting to start.

Please no. This guy blows cold more than hot.
he’s so overrated it’s untrue.
Funnily enough I watched a bit of Watford v West Brom a while back. He scored a beautiful long range goal from the half way line then missed a pen a bit later.

Yeah, we don’t want anyone who misses penalties… :cautious:

I watch Watford quite often. My in laws are season ticket holders there.
Sarr is such an odd player. Very hit and miss and it’s almost as simple as this: if he plays well in the first 20 mins, he’ll go on to have a stormer. If he doesn’t, he just looks clumsy and disinterested.
if we signed him, the fans would be on his back almost immediately (and rightly so).
Personally I think there’s a reason he is still at Watford and wasn’t picked up by anyone when they got relegated. He’s average

That said, trying to judge anyone in the toxic mess that is Watford is pretty difficult- if you think our players don’t always play for the manager you should watch them. Most managers do well to get 10games

He's decent but it doesn't make sense to me. I know there's an age discrepancy but i'd rather us try to wait until the summer and sign Zaha on a free transfer. More accomplished player and helps us solve a lot of the home grown problems we are having.

Zaha over Sarr is a no brainer

Not so sure for me. He'll be 31 next season, to go with Son who will be 31, and Kane 30.

I assume he'll be looking for a multi-year deal, on big wages.

Too much risk for drop-off, in addition to general risks associated with Zaha - not sure his head is always in the game.

I know, however id still take a consistent high level PL performer in zaha rather than Sarr.
And I find zaha really hard to like tbh. He’s literally always spoiling for a fight on the pitch.
But Sarr looks lost a lot of the time. Your point about zaha head not being in the game is a much bigger issue for Sarr.
he dribbles down blind alleys
He doesn’t challenge for headers despite being tall.
his final ball isn’t great
He’s not a leader

honestly I think Sarr was a a poor man’s Traore tbh

edit: this is also a good example of the argument supposedly going on behind closed doors - sign a proven player who could help us win now (but expensive) or a cheaper alternative who “could” get us there in a few years time.
If you want to win you would never choose Sarr of zaha

If we want anyone from Watford it’s joao pedro, he’s the only one who’s really performed consistently over the last 18 months, crap article though as they aren’t struggling, like half of their squad he’s now injured as well though and out for a couple of months so expect Bilic to get the tic tac in about eight weeks….
They’d probably want at least £35-£40m for him though but then that’s what Everton paid for Richie and most thought that was way over the top.
Watford have got a great scouting network and it’s well worth keeping an eye on some of their dealings.

If we’re talking Joao’s I’ve just seen Joao Felix is available from Athletico in January, I’d be all over that!

We did hire one of their Chief scouts earlier this year.

Didn’t know that, that’s a really good appointment from us!

100% agree with this. Joao Pedro is their best player by a distance but likely to stay until the summer now I’d expect due to his recent injury

Villa have put a bid in for Sarr, hasn't been accepted by Watford

Is that first choice Deulofeu by the looks of it? He was great at Watford till he got a serious injury, don’t think he’d be up to it in this league now hence Sarr I guess

An on-form Sarr is so good. The trick is getting him on form . I'm all for it if it's Conte who wants him as he has a great track record in improving players. If it isn't a Conte pick though you may as well flush the transfer fee straight down the toilet and save everyone the pain of watching him underperform against Blyth Spartans in the Cup.

This is such a flawed argument. The reason why Zaha would be on big wages is because he is top class now. The reason Sarr is not going to be on massive wages is because he is miles away from Zaha in quality.

This sort of thinking led to us signing bergwijn, lo celso and ndombele.

Is the player good enough now, would be my question. I can understand from a squad building process to make sure you don't fill your squad with old players, but I'd be much more focused on talent than age.
